The Streamlight TLR-1HL is a popular light, as evidenced by the number of copycat lights. In this video, I test two representative “TLR-1 Similar” lights, the Goonbeam Pistol Light Short V1, and the LA Police Gear Sliderail XWL against the current TLR-1HL. Which light is best for your usage? Watch and find out.

  1. Knocked it out of the park once again. I carry the TLR-1 and video after video, your videos cement my confidence in that choice. I do own the LAPG light and have suggested it to many people who are on a tight budget. It's a good light. Again, great video and I'm still rocking the M6.

  2. The hot spot on the Goonbeam almost borders on too tight, in that in the video it seems if I pointed the beam more at your eyes and the person had a long torso and/or arms that a weapon in the hand might be cut off at the edge of the beam.

  3. I’ll take the tlr1 all day the spill is perfect. I don’t plan on using the pistol use all that candela. But if I do it’s to get out of a pinch

  4. Cool video. Thank you for doing a more thorough review than “it has this many lumens” or “yep, it’s really bright”. And you did it without resorting to infotainment “I’m gonna set this light on fire and see if it still works… this light sucks; it didn’t survive me dropping it in a volcano.”
