  1. Couple alternatives that are likely more reliable and definitely cheaper than this. Magpul mag coupler and two mags. Should run you less than 50$. Really wanting a lot of rounds in one mag? Surefire D60. A bit pricey but less than 150$. Not sure who was asking for this

  2. I guess it's kinda cool, assuming it actually runs. But with how quick it is to change mags on an AR it looks like a solution in search of a problem. Good thing is those 2lb 50+rd bricks would make a good ad hoc melee weapon, lol. As others have said, a 30rd with the profile of a 10 or 20rd standard mag seems to make a lot more sense, while also having the higher cap version that care about it.

  3. If the magazines are reliable, I'll be picking one of these up… I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye out for reviews first though because I've been burned on quad stack mags before.
Edit: Oh wow this comment section is absolutely packed with people who are showing that they've never even handled an AR15, a drum magazine, or both. I understand being a naysayer, as I also have my doubts, but please reconsider posting if you're trying to sound smart about stuff you have only seen in ads and sponsored articles. It just isn't going to work out for you.

  4. I don't think this is only competing with the Quadstack, as it has 7 fewer rounds. I think what it's genuinely directly competing with is the 50 round single drum, which is an absolute logistical nightmare in comparison despite how drums feed more reliably than the classic quadstack.

  5. This would make more sense if the barrier to entry was lower. Considering they will definitely be making most of their revenue from magazine sales, why not make the lower more competitively priced? This is how inkjet printer companies work

  6. It's a cool range toy. but its a solution in search of a problem. For the same bulk in your loadout you could just carry double stacks of standard mags and have more rounds than carrying these bulky mags. Not to mention the gun has to be heavier than a standard rifle and now you have to carry an adapter to use the most common mags available.

  7. While most Dems are complaining about standard capacity magazines, and labeling them as "high capacity," in steps a whole new receiver and magazine with room for 23 more bullets. If F yo couch was a company. LOL! Seriously though, it’s nice to see innovation that hasn’t been stifled by legislation.

  8. I still don't understand what it is about these mags that makes them more reliable when the 4 stacks still have to narrow themselves to a double feed system. The same bottleneck still exists, it's just been moved closer to the feed lips.

  9. Desert Tech is notorious for delays and issues with Gen 1 semiauto weapons. It was good to not hear a specific commitment on production release. DT release it when ALL the bugs are out of it and I'm in.
