  1. How things have changed since I built my AR-15. Admittedly, I prefer the carry handle on mine, although I do have a flat top upper built up, I just have a royal issue with the flip up back up sights. My original upper (purchased before there really was a such thing as a flat top rail), I installed tritium sights on, and I am not discovering, the tritium vials are pretty much DOA, so, I'll be replacing them when I can.

My rifle has the original Tango Down Vertical Foregrip on it, an Aimpoint mounted forward of the carry handle, and the first VLTOR Mod Stock. The Sling was custom-built by me. I call it a 1-2-3 sling, because functionally, it was designed for 2-point and 3-point, but then I added a buckle to it that when you unclasp it, it functionally become a single point sling.

I grab hold of my rifle like a fighting stance, and with the sling on it, my arm loops around the sling in 3-point mode. I do not try to tuck my arms in, because if I do that, I will not get the additional stabilization from the sling, and my proficiency with the rifle drops somewhat. It makes my wrists go straight, which I would suggest is the entire reason the pistol grip and vertical foregrip was designed in the first place.

You mention that when you grab hold of your rifle to swing it… my first criticism of that is, "Why are you using your arms to do what your legs and your back should be doing?" I was trained by my dad, who was Vietnam Era Special Forces when he was in the service, how to move, how to adjust, and how to not have the rifle fight you in order to get on target quickly. Using your hands to move your rifle is something you do for fine manipulations, and if you're doing much more, you're losing out on the functionality of the rest of your body, which all should have a vested interest in you not getting killed.

  2. Running the index finger of the support hand on the first tab of an AFG is another method I find quite comfortable while adding more rearward pull to the shoulder

  3. I broke my left arm in 3 places when I was a kid and I can no longer rotate to hold the bottom of any rifle but with a fore grip I’m able to grip the rifle and actually hold it. On my hunting rifles I just set the gun on top of my hand and I use to get hit in the eye with the scope a lot

  4. Any opinion on the Leapers UTG Pro Ultra Slim Angled Foregrip? It seems to have some good reviews and I like the way it looks but, obviously looks aren't the most important thing. Also, what about the Strike Industries LINK Curved Foregrip?

  5. how far forward is too far for the grip placement? I have a 12ga semi auto, and only have 1 piece of rail i can mount the foregrip to and its pretty far forward closer to where the the muzzle starts. thanks
