  1. I feel that as an American its hard not to be an AR guy however a quality stock configured AK is a must and id love to have a modernized AK with quality rail attachments for optics, lights, IR etc. Gotta have both and multiple variations of both! Great discussion as usual! Keep the great content coming! Best wishes to all for the new year! 💯

  2. (What to buy:) Ar15….9mm…..22lr…..12 gauge
That's it. Why these over everything else? Simply put, you're more likely to find ammo for these even if the world goes to shit. No one is going to have 300 blkout. No one is going to have tons of AK rounds. Maybe gun fanatics. However, the ones I listed are the most common guns in America. You'll be able to find that ammo from somewhere.

  3. Both rifles are good , train with both and see which one your more comfortable with at the end of the day . For me it’s the ak i feel like it’s more reliable and robust , and the 762 ain’t no joke more knockdown power for sure. If u want need more precision an Ak74 will do the job and it’s even more reliable then the ak47

  4. Freezing rain stops the ar flat..no effect on ak..I've had both …the durability of ak trumps the ar design. The accuracy is better on ar but not enough to matter. So I use my ak,, much more

  5. I live in a state where i have very diverse terrain. Thick rain forest jungles on one side, desert on the other. I use the ak in the rain forest, and the scoped AR when i go to the desert.

  6. For me, the whole “versus” discussion is really a false choice. I started out as an 80% AR assembler and fell in love with the platform. Then I became familiar with the AK platform and as a lefty I must admit that it slightly edges out the AR. While the AR is lighter, has more caliber diversity and slightly better accuracy, I prefer the AK’s reliability, gas system, and less rigorous maintenance requirements. A major plus is that Zastava made an excellent AK in 5.56 NATO, so this to me is really the best of both worlds. Weight, reliability, accuracy, ergonomics and maintenance should all factor into one’s decision. In the final analysis, I feel more confident and comfortable hefting my AKs than my ARs, though I love both platforms. And I can shoot either 5.56 or 7.62 on a whim.

  7. Make it a little more fair. Bring an ak guy in. Matt has no experience with the ak .Things aren't that difficult like trigger groups and hand guards to replace.

  8. I know M. Kalashnikov is seen as the sole creator of the AK, but I'm not sure that's completely true in reality.

I'd have to give it another read as it's been a while, but C. J. Chivers's "The Gun" is a really great history of the AK. If I remember right, Mikhail had some ideas for the AK but he wasn't the sole developer, it was in actuality developed by a committee. But the Soviet Union was more than glad to make him the proletarian hero.

  9. This guy's knowledge of the AK platform is reaching ignorant Karen level's and is mad hard trying everything to justify his AR.

"Swapping handguards are easier on an AR"
"You have to remove optic to take the dust cover off"
"You have to have heavy modifications just to have a nice AK"

  10. I like the Controls on the AK a bit better, mostly because it has a side charging handle instead of a T charging handle. I don't hear people talk about them a lot but I absolutely hate T charging handles I find them incredibly unergonomic.

  11. I have Bulgarian SLR and an FN AR that's a clone of a standard issued M4, and after 8 years in the Army and training with the Bulgarians in Germany, I can safely say I trust my AK way more than I do the AR.
