  1. Yeah that video was garbage , the weight is not an issue unless you are doing things like high elevation mountain hunting were every ounce counts and aside from that an AR-10 beats a 15 I’m every aspect for hunting and as far as recoil I have mine set up and is softer than some of my friends AR-15s with just flash hiders.

  2. In my building an AR-308, I researched for a long time making sure what I was about to do would be right noticing the difference between DPMS and Armalite receivers. The build would be chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor making everything AERO Precision upper/lower receiver believing from one maker fewer problems, but one area that I encountered was the BCG. The BCG may not be a problem with handloads, but if you are considering factory ammunition only like M80 Winchester; it may cause some problem with the firing pin hole the primer flowing into it causing a stoppage/blocking the firing pin, solution for me JP Enterprises Enhanced High-Pressure BCG (small firing pin hole), the cost $460.00, but it does work – AR-7.62×51/308 Win. not for recreation – everything has to work @ 100%.

  3. Curious if you ever tried a bear creek upper as they come complete for a good price .Not sure on the fit I just know most 80 % receiver's are DPMS gen 1 & they say it fits them . Their uppers work fine on my ar 15 80 % receivers

  4. This is the first video I chose to watch after a friend said there's something about receivers not working together, etc. Thought he was crazy before watching this.

  5. PSA is LR308 pattern. You are making this a lot harder than it actually is. It is very simple You have the DPMS pattern, the Armalite pattern, and both use a specific barrel nut for the upper. So you must get an Armalite barrel nut for the AR10, and an LR308 barrel nut for the DPMS pattern. DPMS also has high profile and low profile, so you need to get a high profile or low profile barrel nut for the DPMS pattern. After that it is super easy Armalite makes an A series and a B series, and B series uppers only work on B series lowers, and A series on work on A series lowers. All the other companies making AR10 patters receivers make A series uppers and lowers. So basically AR10 uppers with AR10 lowers, LR308 uppers with LR308 lowers, Then all you have to do is get the correct barrel nut, and uses AR10 barrel with AR10 bolts, LR308 barrels with LR308 bolts, and use AR10 gas tubes with AR10 barrels, and LR308 gas tubes with LR308 barrels, and it s that simple. For example if you wanna build a rifle, and you have AR10 or LR308 receivers, you can use LR308 or AR10 barrels on either receiver pattern, but whatever the barrel pattern is you must also use the same pattern bolt and gas tube, and if you plan on using standard 2 piece handguards on the AR10 pattern barrels you have to use Armalite length handguards, but rails will work on either, and LR308 uses standard AR15 length handguards. Building an AR10 style rifle is just as simple as building an AR15, you basically just have to know what barrel nut to get, and depending on what barrel you choose you have to use the same pattern bolt and gas tube, and use Armalite length handguards if you use an AR10 pattern barrel. Easy work! There are a few companies like S&W, Rock River Arms, Savage and a few others that do not use either pattern, and though most the AR10 and LR308 parts work on those rifles, the receivers will only fit with those brands. So if you got an Savage, S&W or Rock River Arms upper, they will not fit on an AR10 or LR308 lower. I also mentioned the AR10 A and B series, and the B series actually came first, and the A series is what they use now. The B seres has a bigger magwell like their original AR10, but takes M14 mags and B uppers will not work with A series lowers. A series lowers have a much smaller magwell and uses original AR10 mags and DPMS mags. The A and B series look identical on the outside except for the magwell, but are different internally. A and B series still use the same parts though except the mag release. If you know AR10 rifles you can instantly tell them apart, cause the B series has a magwell that is almost 90 degrees across, and the A series has a magwell curved like the AR15 and all other 308 rifles. The A series magazine is also 90 degrees vertical, and the B series magazine tilts forward a bit. If you did not know there was an A and B series you would likely never realize they were even different visually, but once you realize the magwell is bigger on the B series you will always notice it. I personally prefer the A series because it is easier to find magazines, and 99% of AR10 pattern uppers are compatible with the A series, and only Armalite makes B series uppers. But I visually like the B series more. In my opinion the best AR10 ever made is the Armalite AR10B 50th anniversary rifle. In the mid 90s they took their AR10B and made a retro/modern rifle. They made a top cocking upper like the original AR10, put the original AR10 furniture on it, but put all the modern features on it. So it looks like a retro AR10, but has modern features. So basically Armalite made a retro version of their own rifle 25 years before Brownells made a retro AR10. Nonetheless the AR10B 50th anniversary model is what I would build if I were gonna build an AR10.

  6. My dad recently built one and it wouldn’t cycle properly, slowly swapped every part out (bcg, gas system, mags, ammo, buffer&spring, until we finally changed the barrel then it ran perfectly lol 🤷🏻‍♂️ never had that happen with tens of .556 builds.

  7. you've taken a long time to get to the problems part and once there you completely over complicated the build, I guess this might help for the guy that just walked into the gun store for the first time in him life which in turn has no hand in building a gun

  8. I got a lower that said 1st gen low profile dpms and a complete upper from another company that said 1st gen low profile dpms so hopefully it goes well. First one

  9. All of you YouTube gun publishers need to Google infographics then start using them in your videos. People like looking at what is being narrated. We don’t want to look at you for 12 minutes.. you are not that sexy big guy

  10. I’m sure someone has already mentioned this, but if you go with Armalite you have AR10a and AR10b and those parts are not interchangeable. I thoroughly enjoy building AR15’s and now building my first AR10a with Diamondback Armalite pattern lower.

  11. One reason I prefer the ar10 to the ar15… genesis 12 gauge upper fits on the dpms gen 1 lower. You can hunt anything on the ground and in the air with the 5 second swap of your upper (Not to mention… 10 round 12 gauge magazines on a semi-auto platform… pretty fun mag dump)

  12. I build an AR-10 that fits perfect and runs very smooth. All I did was do my research and match the platform, which all products that you buy will say what platform it is. Building an AR-10 is not complicated and is just as easy as an AR-15.

  13. Armalite came out with the AR-10 308 first in 1955 and was in direct competition with the M-14 308.
The Army was looking at the 224 cartridge and wanting that in the AR platform….After all the legal issues they came up with the 223 so as not to confuse people putting the wrong ammo in the rifle….enter the M-16/AR-15.
Next came DPMS and rather than going with Milspec Armalite and paying, changed some things around.
Fast forward today, it's a real challenge (nightmare) to put one together without having a compatibility list.

  14. The struggle is real… I'm building my first AR 308 and first gun in general, and there's certainly a lot of options out there. I bought two different 80% lowers for the build, and one fits great with the upper I bought, while the other has some gaps in places and is a very tight fit. Looking forward to getting the rest of the parts and seeing if I run into any other incompatibilities!

  15. Stag upper, lower, 20" rifle barrel, bcg, upper parts, lower parts, low pro rifle gas port and tube, charge handle
    Aim handguard and nut
Utg a2 stock kit w rifle buffer and spring
Generic trigger and lower kit. Am I missing anything? I think this should work I'm assembling it tomorrow I'll let yall know how it works out
    Paid about 1300 for everything

  16. Great video touching on some of the additional considerations when building an AR-10/AR-308 compared to an AR-15. Unfortunately, you didn't touch on the issue I was looking for an answer to, the different buffer tube lengths, how that effects buffer & spring selection and how to choose the right combination? Possibly an idea for a follow up video?

  17. Try find a short barrel impossible.I’m going to need get a gunsmith to turn a barrel .i want a 10.5 or 8.5 barrel turned .Yea I know you will say it’s a waste but I like fireballs at the range with 308😂 so don’t dash my dreams .I’m trying make my own saint victor with Ballistic Advantage lower and upper with SBA 3 brace .

  18. I don’t know about that, the AR-10 chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22 inch barrel eats at medium to long distances. I put a white tail down in WV from about 450 yards with zero issue with one.

  19. Just finished my enhanced aero precision m5 build. All Aero is DPMS I think. The trick is …..ppssssst….wait for the lower to be in the blemished section on Aero's site. Even if its stripped just snag your parts out of the lower you have. But yeah you do need to get the right rail height. That's why I bout all m5 enhanced….which is a bitch to find a m5 enhanced handguard. Check sportsmans guide, and litterally Google M5 handguard my dude they are online young fam
