  1. why is it so hard for people to understand there is a difference between a 3rd party adapter, like Canon EF to Sony E vs A first party adapter, like the Nikon FTZ? Obviously, first party adapters are going to work better! They designed the system!

  2. D 850s are NOT out of stock. They just selll out as fast as they come in. Just back order and wait. Depending upon timing and store could be any where from 1 week to a month

  3. Fail is a pretty strong word, when we do not know how the market will respond to these cameras. And, mentioning the market, do you know what the market for this sort of concept wants? No, you don't. At any rate, maybe these cameras do not have qualities that you perceive are important. OK, so you won't be buying one. One more thing, looking at pictures of the lens assortment for these cameras, you make the comment that they don't look like a quality…, hmm, how would you know anything of their quality from what they look like? The only impression from a picture is that they are elegant, or not elegant. sterlingimagesphotography.com

  4. During the campagne the last months I had my considerations but now I know for sure. Nikon wants to play ball in a game they don't master. Stay away from it.  I love Nikon dslr's but for mirrorless I went for Fujifilm. They understand the mirrorless concept far better.

  5. 600 Bucks for a nifty fifty. 850 Bucks vor a 35 1,8. And these lenses look soooo cheap :)). Single Card Slot. No Eye AF. Only 300 shots batterylife. What is this? A brandnew Nikon, or a A7 first generation?. Nikon Z Series is a MASSIVE DISAPOINTMENT.

  6. put the A7RII against the Z7, thats more applicable to this status. Its not the evolved 3nd body like A7RIII etc. I laughed when the engineer at Nikon was asked why 1 slot, said no room, BS. 2-3 yrs to wait for 2 slot unit.

  7. The adapter looks like it works fine on the old Nikon glass. Where I believe (based on images I've seen, no research behind it) the new lenses will be better is in sharpness, since it appears you'll be taking a more center cut of the lens, which is where the sweet spot is. There may be some vignetting due to the short distance between the back element and the sensor. We'll have to see.

Nice first effort, is my opinion. This camera needed to be made, Nikon had little choice, and of course it's going to be ripped apart, so will Canon's when it is released.

I believe this camera is for users of older Nikon bodies (D700/D300) who already own a lot of Nikon lenses. This camera is not for a D5, D750, or D850 owner. If you're shooting with another brand, don't change to Nikon. Never jump on the first generation of anything. In fact, I advise people to stay with their current brand under most circumstances, it's too expensive to switch.

An extra card slot, eye autofocus, and a fast frame rate will not make anyone a better photographer. Nice to have some of these features, but they mean nothing when it comes to capturing light. Anyone should be able to pick up the Z6 and the kit lens and make a great image. If you can't, it's not the camera. Learn to light.

  8. I think Nikon did a very good job with there mirrorless cameras. And I’m Canon shooter. I will always think of Sony as a consumer electronics company. Nikon was making great cameras and glass when Sony was making cheep portable radios. Proud of the old guard.

  9. the adapter is $250 and its $100 off if you order it with the camera before the end of the year. And the reports are that the f mount lenses work great and seamlessly with the adapter.

  10. They marketed the system to high end users with the large mount and Noct glass, yet they made a camera for beginners – people who will never even try the Noct line. They hyped up a turd and it is really embarrassing. Even people with a lot of Nikon glass may now consider switching if this is the "future" of Nikon. Speaks loudly that Nikon still has no clue. They made a full frame d5600…besides 4k, what does this really offer over a d750 (4 year old camera).

  11. I have (and still use) the D2Hs with a single card slot and it works fine for years… you should not say things until you really try (test) them. It is better to offer an intelligent test of these products rather than speculating about things that you don't really know.

  12. Nikon had the benefits of Sony 4-1/2 years of success and mistakes yet they dropped the ball. They choose to plug a hole in his sinking ship instead of choosing to be a leader and revolutionize the industry like they did back in the 50's. Sad.

  13. If Nikon are holding things back on purpose to protect their DSLR's then they are cray.
What if no one buys the Z6 or the Z7 due to all the bad reviews.
Then they will have wasted millions
They could have beaten Sony on all counts if they wanted to!

  14. 58/0,95 will be manual focus, as far as Tony Northrup said. Hardly anyone mentions that. Oh, and will cost 6k 🙂
So Nikon launches 2 cameras that are a kind of copy of the current Sony a7 models. Big deal. "We ran too":
