  1. Strobe is for signaling, and I agree the Streamlight switch is not as flexible. Also remember that the TLR fashions around the trigger guard, so I love it on a pistol. But you know there is not that much difference in flood between each. But the difference in flood is accounted for by the reflectors. I have 3 of the TLR1 HL models. Wouldn't trade the beam intensity of the Streamlights.

  2. Don't waste money on any kind of lens cover. Put a drop of your favorite gun lube on it and smear it around. Chapstick also works well. It gives the carbon something to stick to other than the lens and lets it wipe right off without any kind of hassle.

  3. Both great companies, and I like both for different reasons. For my AR’s I run the Surefire mini scout with dual pressure pad, amazing light and much smaller then the a Streamlight rail mount light, but more then double the price after light and pressure pad. For me I like the way the mini scout mounts up and I like the SF dual pressure switch much better than the stream light offering. As far as handgun lights, I always ran the TLR1, amazing light, incredible output, much smaller and HALF the cost. However today I picked up my first X300 after wanting one for a long time and I’m sold. The fatal flaw with the TLR-1 is the switch, Mine broke in half and had to buy a replacement, the quality of the replacement is subpar and considering this is my home defense light I bit the bullet and bought the X300 today. The only way I can explain the difference between the switches is the surefire feels like a BMW window switch vs the streamlight feeling like an 85 Toyota Corolla window switch. I guess it depends what you plan on using the light for, both are amazingly durable lights, but at the end of the day, Life or death I would definitely choose the surefire.

  4. Tbh it seems like the TLR1 HL is trying to decide if it's a pistol light or a rifle light while the X300U is firmly a pistol light. The Streamlight almost seems like it has too tight of a Hotspot without enough flood while the X300 has a bright hot spot with enough flood to light up an entire room or alleyway

But that could be me trying to justify my purchase on the X300 which is almost double the price as the TLR1
