We take a first look at the new MK2 Forged Upper Receiver from Bravo Company Manufacturing. Usually a forged upper doesn’t get much love or enhancements, not any more. BCM really added some great features with this new and unique forged offering. Check out the video to learn more and see it up close, thanks for watching!

  1. ya, i was all on board until he said you have to heat it up to insert the barrel. ya, idk, mil-spec has been very reliable for years, if I leave a barrel in this upper for a long period of time, will I ever be able to replace the barrel? i think i'll stick to the standard upper with the BFH barrel.

  2. I've learned to be ambidextrous with rifles and shotguns over the years lol glad to see a gun made for us southpaw shooters I'm going to get one ordered I seen one for $118 with free shipping so I'll need an extension BCG and CH I like the review I'm just learning about the ar platform gonna attempt my first build soon

  3. So do I need to buy a barrel for this reciever? I am going to build my first AR 15 in 5.56 NATO so I can shoot 223 and 5.56. I know I'll need to carrier group and charging handle if I buy a complete lower is a BCG and charging handle or do I need more besides that?

  4. A couple of things the reviewer missed…….1. there are relief cuts near the charging handle and rear lug to help with gas to the face. 2. When he mentions material was added the the mouth area, he didn't mention that the receiver is essentially the same weight as a standard receiver. BCM did a fantastic job with these receivers, a lot was addressed and a lot of thought was poured into this before it was brought to market.

  5. Watch Larry Vickers video on his BCM training rifle he features the MK2 and another in-depth video with BCM owner Paul Buffoni explaining all the features of the MK2 for all the haters!

  6. I find this completely unnecessary. How many uppers have you ever seen broken in your life? I've been buying, building and shooting for a long time and I have NEVER had an upper crack or break. $130???? Smh. BCM is just grasping at expensive straws at this point… Nobody needs this upper when they can get a quality one from any number of manufacturers for much cheaper. Throw the money you save towards a quality barrel, fire control group, BCG or any component on your build.

  7. I’m very interested in this upper.

I guess I’m lucky but both of my stripped aero upper have an extremely tight fit to the barrel extension. So much so that I can’t even push the extension into the receiver. I have to tap the receiver with a rubber mallet just to get the extension in.

  8. I can sort of see the benefit for lefties, and good on them for just making a well machined upper with good fitment exc….but are there really uppers out there cracking and/or just causing AR’s to be inaccurate? Serious question.

I don’t think I have ever seen a cracked AR upper, and I feel like any ho hum AR barrel and normal upper are giving at least 1.5 moa or under for accuracy in optimal settings.

  9. The Vltor MUR/VIS have been my go-to for years now but that may just have to change with this new BCM MK2!
I really do love me some innovation. That said, it is interesting to see how long it really takes for some aspects of the AR to be enhanced or augmented ─ it was only just within the last few years that we've actually seen a number of positive changes but the design has been around for decades. Bravo!

  10. They should have just did away with the forward assist and lowered the price. If the buffer spring doesn't close and lock my bolt, I'm not going to jam it shut with the FA. I'm going to clear my rifle and inspect it.

  11. Liking most points on this. The forward assist is great idea as most of us using an ambi charge handle it's in the way. Some uppers I just get it deleted. But the barrel heat fit is going to help accuracy eliminating the barrel wobble at flange

  12. I bought one on initial release and plugged it into existing 11.5
Had to modify gen3 MI handguard to make it fit
Have about 100rds suppressed through it (conjugal visit while can is in jail) and it seemed to do a great job of redirecting gasses away from shooter (one of its claims). I’m happy with it so far and excited to put more rounds through it. Supposedly the additional material up front helps with the bolt lugs not shearing. Time will tell on that. I agree, no reason not to use it at this point
