We take a first look at the new MK2 Forged Upper Receiver from Bravo Company Manufacturing. Usually a forged upper doesn’t get much love or enhancements, not any more. BCM really added some great features with this new and unique forged offering. Check out the video to learn more and see it up close, thanks for watching!

ya, i was all on board until he said you have to heat it up to insert the barrel. ya, idk, mil-spec has been very reliable for years, if I leave a barrel in this upper for a long period of time, will I ever be able to replace the barrel? i think i'll stick to the standard upper with the BFH barrel.
I've learned to be ambidextrous with rifles and shotguns over the years lol glad to see a gun made for us southpaw shooters I'm going to get one ordered I seen one for $118 with free shipping so I'll need an extension BCG and CH I like the review I'm just learning about the ar platform gonna attempt my first build soon
So do I need to buy a barrel for this reciever? I am going to build my first AR 15 in 5.56 NATO so I can shoot 223 and 5.56. I know I'll need to carrier group and charging handle if I buy a complete lower is a BCG and charging handle or do I need more besides that?
any place to get these receivers now days?
A couple of things the reviewer missed…….1. there are relief cuts near the charging handle and rear lug to help with gas to the face. 2. When he mentions material was added the the mouth area, he didn't mention that the receiver is essentially the same weight as a standard receiver. BCM did a fantastic job with these receivers, a lot was addressed and a lot of thought was poured into this before it was brought to market.
Dave just put a ballistic advantage 13.7 carbine gas length Hanson profile barreling mine. I can attest to it being a tight fit. Very nice receiver.
BCM is IMO the best option on the market in terms of quality and price range. Their shipping is super fast too.
Watch Larry Vickers video on his BCM training rifle he features the MK2 and another in-depth video with BCM owner Paul Buffoni explaining all the features of the MK2 for all the haters!
Just put one of these on this week. Haven't got to shoot it yet. Had to finally crank the heat gun up to get the barrel in. Should be a little more accurate.
I WANT. But they aren't available as just the receiver.
Very interesting. I wonder how Aero Precisionโs Enhanced upper compares with respect to adding strength and rigidity to the area the barrel mounts. Thoughts anyone?
Just got mine yesterday. Whole upper group tho. Mk2 receiver, bfh barrel 16 in heavy barrel. Shit was expensive but it's so beautiful.
My Aero Precision M4E1 inhanced upper required a thermo fit. But that BCM MK2 is sexy as hell IMO. Yet another reason to build another rifle.
Has anyone been able to actually find these uppers? I can only find the prebuilt ones instead of the stripped ones…
This upper is like an attempt to make the wheel more round.
I find this completely unnecessary. How many uppers have you ever seen broken in your life? I've been buying, building and shooting for a long time and I have NEVER had an upper crack or break. $130???? Smh. BCM is just grasping at expensive straws at this point… Nobody needs this upper when they can get a quality one from any number of manufacturers for much cheaper. Throw the money you save towards a quality barrel, fire control group, BCG or any component on your build.
Great review. You didn't touch on the added gas expansion areas and new channels added around the charging handle opening designed to vent gases away from the users face.
Why
I want one but will a geissele rail fit on it?
Iโm very interested in this upper.
I guess Iโm lucky but both of my stripped aero upper have an extremely tight fit to the barrel extension. So much so that I canโt even push the extension into the receiver. I have to tap the receiver with a rubber mallet just to get the extension in.
I can sort of see the benefit for lefties, and good on them for just making a well machined upper with good fitment exc….but are there really uppers out there cracking and/or just causing ARโs to be inaccurate? Serious question.
I donโt think I have ever seen a cracked AR upper, and I feel like any ho hum AR barrel and normal upper are giving at least 1.5 moa or under for accuracy in optimal settings.
How's this measure up to the aero precision upper?
Thanks for the great video!
Well, I donโt see them for sale anywhere
The Vltor MUR/VIS have been my go-to for years now but that may just have to change with this new BCM MK2!
I really do love me some innovation. That said, it is interesting to see how long it really takes for some aspects of the AR to be enhanced or augmented โ it was only just within the last few years that we've actually seen a number of positive changes but the design has been around for decades. Bravo!
How would you compare this to the Vltor MUR?
They should have just did away with the forward assist and lowered the price. If the buffer spring doesn't close and lock my bolt, I'm not going to jam it shut with the FA. I'm going to clear my rifle and inspect it.
Chainee played Np 42 vid
If I get this upper are there any barrels that I can get for it that are โthermo-fitโ? Like the JP rifles uppers?
Gave the video a thumbs up just for the dad joke at the start lol thanks DT!
If youโve ever had a fine pineapple soda, go ahead and hit that like button.
I still think aero m4e1 is the best upper and lower on the market
You forgot to talk about the gas chamber cuts to prevent gas to the userโs face. Great review!๐ช๐ผ๐บ๐ธ๐๐ผ
The perfect upper for those who have to have the strongest bestest betterest just because!
Liking most points on this. The forward assist is great idea as most of us using an ambi charge handle it's in the way. Some uppers I just get it deleted. But the barrel heat fit is going to help accuracy eliminating the barrel wobble at flange
definitely my next upper receiver ๐
I have a much better idea. I will be reaching out to Aero Precision with a much better solution. Stay tuned.
I have seen some Ambi lowers that will not fit the upper because of the Ambi bolt catch/release
I bought one on initial release and plugged it into existing 11.5
Had to modify gen3 MI handguard to make it fit
Have about 100rds suppressed through it (conjugal visit while can is in jail) and it seemed to do a great job of redirecting gasses away from shooter (one of its claims). Iโm happy with it so far and excited to put more rounds through it. Supposedly the additional material up front helps with the bolt lugs not shearing. Time will tell on that. I agree, no reason not to use it at this point
BCM Upper + DD barrel + a little heat = one of the most accurate AR I have built. Excited to try this MK2 upper!
Just got an email from them. They don't have an eta on the next batch. They're saving them for their complete upper builds. Wish I got a few from the first batch.
Literally have one of these coming in today. Great timing!
Need!
