Assembling Palmetto State Armory AR-15 kit

***Not intended to be a tutorial, just documenting my process.***

In this video, follow along as I assemble a PSA 10.5 inch AR-15 pistol. Budget AR-15s are hard to come by right now, so I decided to build my own. Assembled upper and lower parts came from Palmetto State Armory and the stripped lower is a 17 Designs and Manufacturing from Brownells.

This is the first AR I have built. I have worked on several in the past, but never fully built one. It was much easier than I anticipated and went smooth overall! Investing a little into the proper tools (roll pin punch, hammer) and a vise would of helped significantly, but you use what you have and make it work.

  1. Invest in a roll pin punch set, you can sear off the holes for the trigger guard like that. Also when installing the bolt catch roll pin, go back to front or you’ll scratch the finish

  2. Awesome video man! I bought a similar kit from PSA and just picked up my lower receiver today so this video is gonna save me big time. Any chance you’d be able to drop a list in the description of some of the tools you feel are 100% necessary to have when assembling the kit? And maybe some tools that aren’t really necessary but what you used in place of that tool? Again, appreciate the video!

  3. Bro, check out 80% arms…get you some 80% lowers and mill em yourself….I'm just getting done milling 15 ar15, 2 ar10 and 2 ar9 lowers…waiting on a few of my uppers from psa and I'll have 19 of the evil "ghost guns"…the 80% lowers can be shipped to your door so no paper work.

  4. **when I made this comment there was not a disclaimer stating this is not a tutorial**
I thought this was going to be a tutorial, But then you go and assemble everything in fast forward. Oh well I'll try a different video.

  5. Andrew, what specialized tools would you say are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for putting together one of PSA's parts kits? I'm trying to find out what I need to buy without breaking the bank, but when I try to google that information, I'm immediately confronted with a dozen or so YouTubers and bloggers who advocate making "a good investment" and spending almost as much money as I would on the parts kit on extremely specific bench blocks and greases with their Amazon affiliate links, because if I want to build one AR at home, then obviously I also want to build ten more later. But it looks like here you only used a hex wrench, a hammer, and some roll pin punches!

  6. I purchased  PSA 16" 5.56 NATO 1/7 MID-LENGTH NITRIDE 13.5" LIGHTWEIGHT M-LOK CLASSIC RIFLE KIT W/MBUS SIGHT SET with stripped Anderson receiver. There were no instructions in the upper kit. First time newbie, thx for the video.

  7. I just picked up a Sig Romeo 5 red dot. Still on the way but veryyy budget friendly and it has great reviews. Its on Amazon and its got Prime shipping! I just got my upper and lower parts kit but I’m waiting for the stripped lower that I should be able to pick up monday. Good job man
