The AR platform may be Barbie for men, but just like outfits, not everything goes together. This month, we tackle an issue that comes up often in the 3-Gun world about which parts won’t work together and what you can do about it. Check it out.

  1. I built a blackout with a Ballistic Advantage barrel, pistol length gas system, Sharps Rifle Company XPB bcg, Odinworks Adjustable Low Profile Gas Block, and an JP Silent Capture System and it's not locking back to the rear… I'm maxed out on gas running subs and it just needs a hair more pressure. I've also changed out the spring to the white spring which is listed as the lightest one JP has. Pretty bothered by it right now so my next course of action is to chronograph the reloads I've made; 208gn Hornady ELD Match bullets, Lapua Brass, H110 powder, and CCI small rifle primers… Loaded at 1100fps per the book so I'm going to chronograph them next to see if I'm actually hitting 1100fps or if I'm under. I did some research and found the BCG I'm running might be too heavy at 11.2oz. I'd rather change out the weights in the buffer but JP doesn't make anything lighter so that rules that out. Can't add anymore gas so that's out. Thinking of getting a Faxon lightweight BCG but that's an expensive price to shave off 2.7 ounces… Going to load up some supers and see what happens and chronograph to get a better picture.

  2. So im building a rifle with a 223 LMOS and SCS, on a BCM lower and BCM upper with 14.5 pin/weld mid length fixed gas. Will I run into any issues? I only bought your BCG, i may need to invest in a standard BCG to tell the difference or do i simply need to look for bad groups? I've got some 69gr BHA OTM i can use to zero and test.

  3. I find that adding the tungsten weights with the low mass buffer works best for me. I prefer having buffered weight vs just a heavier carrier. Same cyclic timing result better feel.

  4. – I could use a heavier spring, I have the XS two weight SCS with the heaviest spring offered. What can I do to go heavier?
    – I'd really like to talk you guys into making a low mass version of the VMOS, ideally in titanium.
