I carry a protac hl-x from streamlight. I have no complaints
I've got about $100 to spend on my first EDC knife, aside from my trusty leatherman. I'm torn between the Spyderco Tenacious and Cold Steel Air Lite (I'm in Australia). Which would you recommend?
Love your opinion on walmart OT-50L flashlight its $1
Love mine as a mechanic use it everyday not a huge fan of the black coating kinda like a Gun coating but the colored ones have a nice glossy feel and you can not beat the warranty
the charger should be unplugged after charging, And not meant to be left in all the time. And to be clear the charging cord was very warm almost hot when I pulled it from the outlet. Love you Jeff.
I like olight and maglight
The charging system of the Streamlight Strion LED HL looks like it was designed in the early 1980's, a time when every single different electronic device had its own individual ac adapter with its own unique proprietary shaped/sized plug end. Since every single electronic device had its own proprietary ac adaptor if you lost that ac adaptor you were basically screwed because nothing back then was universal like it is now today with either micro USB or USB-C. My current favorite EDC flashlight is the Olight Baton 3 Premium with its portable wireless charging case that can recharge your Baton 3 about 3.5 times.
Love this flashlight. I had mine for 6 yrs no problems.
1. Streamlight
2. Klarus
I've had the olight i3t eos 🤷♂️ it hasnt failed me yet and I bought a new one to match my edc and I bought a Fenix as a around the house light and haven't really had to use it but it seems high quality 🤷♂️
Glad that your dad is still kickin'! I like American made too, but no cash🤣👍🏼
I had an outlet do the same thing. It was loose connections. Replaced the outlet and good to go.
They are all made in the same place.
Thurnite TT20
I will always love maglite, but I have recently become a fan of Streamlight.
I bought me and my dad each a microstream USB for a pocket / work carry flashlight a few weeks back, and I really love mine.
I've heard no complaints from him either.
Great size, good amount of light / runtime, simple operation, not overly modern looking, and the quality is very obvious.
Lol my dad has this same model Streetlight and he has carried it every day for over 12 years. I've never seen that issue with his charger.
Jeff,
It sounds like the wires in the electrical outlet may have loosened up.
Sometimes it will smoke, feel hot to the touch and even Catch fire and melt the outlet, or worse. He needs to have this checked out immediately or it could cause a house fire.
I used to own the classic Strion led and the Strion hl and never had any problems with both of them highly recommend to anyone
Having a small flashlight on me all the time comes in so handy. Especially when you get up in age and the old eye's don't work as well as they once did.
I even use it during the day in dark area's or even trying to read small writing.
I haven't tried a new flashlight. I figure why change up what's not broke. Plus I like how i can set my light on a flat surface and it will stand like a lamp. I have used it that way to.
The rechargeable light looks interesting to have.
My one AAA battrie I change once a year.
I have runied other FLASHLIGHTS by not checking the battery the acide opened up and runied the flashlight it was an expensive flashlight to.
That's why I just use my $8. Dollar light.
I do have an O-light by my bed. I think if I go with a brighter light the faster it will go through batteries?
I've had this same one for a few years now, use it every day at work
My go to light right now is that pen light from the edc club from a couple months ago
Zebralight, Streamlight and SureFire.
Sounds like the outlet 🤔
My first real edc flashlight was a tru utility flashlight with the 90 degree angle light until i got me and my pops a olight i5t all black with blue or purple pocket clip and gotta say I never went back
