AR-15 New Barrel! For Long Range Shooting

Thanks to Eagle Eye Shooting, a fellow shooting channel , I was able to put a 24” 223 Wylde 1:8 Rifle gas length bull barrel on the AR for added velocity for long range shooting with hopes of more accuracy as well! My factory rifle had the M4 profile 18” SS 1:7 Rifle gas. It served its purpose but was never intended to be the barrel for my AR for its lifetime.

My only complaint was that the new barrel was not threaded, Democrats would like that so I made sure to check off that box towards making it as scary as possible to them. Thanks to the same Smith that put my Tikka together he helped once again to thread the muzzle for my brake.

  1. Went to eagle eye Chanel. Many sites came up. Please send me link … I'm always buying and building great broker … $$$$ just purchased a 24 inch 1/7 twist wydle for 600 yard + also have a Creedmoor and a Chevy tac m-200 on order…

  2. Dude! you think shooting is like crack? try machining….WAY worse….you may put together a .575" 5 shot group at 200 yrds…nothing like cutting an internal taper thread to 0.0005" ….then scrapping it, cause you know you can do better!:) Anyway, been following you for a couple years and you are doing GREAT! I just put a 17"x1" AR HVY BBL thru the ringer today…… 75grn hpbt x 24.5grn Varget…. = 0.239" 5 shot group! Have fun man! G>

  3. love the vid. . i have a load for 223 that give consistant moa/sub moa out to about 500 yds. after that it starts to run out of poop. have a 224 alpha shooting sports upper coming. says sub moa. but as with my 223/556 im sure it will be ammo fussy. will be doing some load development for it this spring. will also try factory ammo. cant wait to see the results of 500 to 1000yds. keep up the good work

  4. Love the channel brother!!!

Question though if I may,,, should I use blue loctite on the gas block and on the free float rail?

Also do I use some kind of grease or loctite when putting on the new barrel and barrel nut? Thx!

  5. Just did a build with a BULL barrel. 1.050 diameter. It was a pain in the butt. Had to turn up the ID of the barrel nut just to get it on there. Went with a Wojtek adj. .936 gas block

  6. Thanks for the info on the upper/ I do like the 243 but do not own an AR-10 lower. I live in Connecticut and trying to buy a lower is very hard even for a bolt action rifel. I may have to do an 80% AR-10.

  7. What a dang barrel, man! You gotta have a bipod to hold that thing up! I bet that’s gonna be a tack driver. Can’t wait to see you shoot it!🤠😎

  8. Looks like a paper puncher. It would be interesting to see some long range shots on paper, a place you can get NRA High Power Targets is Creedmore Sports in Oceanside California. They have all kinds of High Power accessories and professional gun nut stuff. Dave.

  9. AR barrels come non threaded? 😮😄 what happened to Valk? Anyway looks good and should be fun watching you work a load. ( on some other hosting spot anyway.) 👍🏻
