Starting with the process we had to learn how to mix up the GunCandy paint correctly. Normal cerakote is a little different. The guncandy comes in small contains that have metal flakes that you then add to the clear coat to make the complete paint mixture. Make sure to follow all the included directions on proper application.

We recommend that you follow all cerakote recommended applications as our process deviates from their recommendations. For instance, cerakote recommends you sandblast the finish prior to painting but we don’t like that step. As you can expect the paint to flake, as we have on ours, we like to keep the anodizing underneath to protect the metal.

Begin by making sure to disassemble and clean everything according to the Cerakote paint instructions. We recommend you visit a local gunsmith for proper teardown and assembly.

When we pulled everything out of the oven, we absolutely loved this Guncandy Kraken look! The gun almost has a deep purple when it’s out of the light, giving a dark look in shadows. Then the light transformed into an amazing teal color as the light hits it.

The entire team was blown away with how the guncandy looks and it definitely brings an edge to the look that just can’t be beaten. I will say, it’ll definitely stand out in a crowd!

  1. Love it! I’ve been thinking about cerakoting was nice to see it done on a budget. The smoker is a great idea as an oven. And i had something cerakoted “professionally” it has worn in a few places now it’s just silver I’d of much rather them paint over the black. 🤷‍♂️
