The AR platform is so great for new/female shooters. Light recoil, accurate, easy to teach the basics (although the AR control functions are a bit more complex than some). I've started many newbies with AR's and it's cool to see them get "bit by the bug…".

It never ceases to amaze me how scared people who are unfamiliar with a black rifle platform can be at just the thought of the thing.
My experience however has been that once they get someone (who can leave their ego at home) to show them how the thing operates and functions, that generally speaking they become fans for life.

An important note for the ladies out there: Don't baby the charging handle. Yank it back as far as it will go, then let it fly. If you try to baby it, it might not load the rifle correctly.

Shot an AR15 for the first time (2 weeks ago). So much fun!
Iโm a 58 yo woman and have only shot handguns. Was concerned about the kick …but it was fine! Definitely need to cover the ears ๐
