  1. I’d say the Olight looks pretty darn tough. I wouldn’t call it a fail for the waterproof test. I believe it’s rated for being waterproof to 10 feet, not 100. I’d say it’s a “pass.”

    Good video.

  2. Love my Olights. That being said I also understand they aren't "top of the line". They do the trick & with the amount of money I sunk into my guns along with gunsmithing I think it's ok to go for a slightly cheaper light. Olight is better than none…

  3. I went with the OLight, the convenience and features on it are too good for the money not to in my opinion. One thing you didn't mention and maybe it wouldn't have made a difference but the magnetic locking tail cap that is used 99% of the time on a rifle set up with the tape switch seems like it may have helped with the water test in the end, just a thought.

  4. I understand the olight failed based off your tests but to be honest you can't really call it a fail when you exceeded the manufacturer specs by about 33x what it's rated for. Definitely wish the mount would've held up better but I'd say overall I'm not sorry to have just put one on my rifle. Damn impressive on behalf of the streamlight though. Great video.

  5. Interesting, I’ve owned and liked Streamlights for years and was looking for a new AR15 light. I ordered both of the lights you tested a few days ago. I’m sure I’ll be happy with both but in still a Streamlight man.

  6. streamlight uses an old fashioned standard technology on their tailcap like the olight i6 paladin……..i bet the paladin would pass those tests and a stramlight with a magnetic 2 way tailcapswitch would have water intrusion at this water pressure………that is the reason why i would never buy a flashlight with an micro-usb charger build in, because the micro usb is so fragile…not to mention the unstandartized rubber boot……but batteries with micro-usb are fine……plus the olight switch is more endangered to mechanical failure because of those uncovered mechanical parts of the switch where at the streamlight the switch itself is covered by a rubber cap so no particles can intrude to cause a failure (same with the paladin)……….gravity is stronger in the usa than in china………

  7. Pretty good test. I have a couple of the Olight Odin (full size). The mount is a clever design, but it is certainly a weak point. If it fails beyond repair, I might chuck it up in the lathe, turn the lug off of it and use a regular light mount.

  8. I really like the Odin Mini but no way am I paying $30-$40 for a mount that should come with the product. They should at least offer the light with your choice of mounts.

  9. I would like to comment on the olight but I have been waiting a month after purchase and still not received a ship date. I’m very unhappy with their customer service as well. Stream light on the other hand is super. I should have just stuck with the stream light.

  10. I like the honest review. For the price point -especially if purchased on a 40% off sale, Olight is a decent home defense light. Is it a combat light? No, but for most civilians, it will work just fine. Thanks for doing these tests.

  11. I got an Odin mini to replace my Warrior X on my DDM4V7. Wanted a lighter (See what I did there?) WML and I didn't need all of the candela coming out of the Warrior X for my mission set, wanted greater flood for PID. Am very pleased with the performance so far and I'm glad that I don't need to buy batteries constantly and/or keep taking the battery out to charge it.
