I just wanted something to slip in my pocket in the evenings that put out a bright white light (edc) and less than $50. As of mid-2019, it was a good purchase.
Do you recommend this as a thrower? I’m a cop and I need a good distance light. I carry a Olight M2T Warriors and it’s great in close range but not so much in distance.

Excellent, succinct review. I own a Streamlight (Protac 2AA) that uses a very similar control system. I have never warmed up to that system and prefer the Thrunite line of flashlights, "they connect with me" (as you often say). That said, I can see using the Polytac X as a shotgun's weapon light and will probably purchase one for that purpose.
Streamlight is also a well respected brand in the Automotive Technician field. Almost every Auto Tech I know owns a Streamlight.
I think I'll stick w/ my Olight S2R baton ( gets a ruler smack to the knuckles)

I'm running the X model and have been very happy with it. That rechargeable battery holds a charge well. Great value.

Fwiw, you can use 16650 batteries in dual 123 lights, though output will likely be lower due to the change in voltage.
I recomand the First-Light TORQ made in USA. This light beats it all! Best regards from Germany.

Great light. I have it as a weapons light on several of my AR’s. Hundreds of rounds with absolutely no issues.
