  1. I spent 22 years using 5.56 with fixed sights with no problem hitting 300 meter targets.
This Grendel caliber with a scope is just amazing. A definite advantage.
I only have access to a 500 meter range but I can tell you that very little math or skill is needed
to get center mass hits at 500 meters and maybe more.

    Just found your channel, GTG

  2. .223/5.56 from 16" barrel has no trouble hitting a full sized silhouette target at 500 yards with iron sights. But gotta love the 3x energy delivery a 123gr 6.5 Grendel bullet can land at that 500 yard distance!!!

  3. We have a solid amount of field data on the 6.5Grendel with wild game. For wild game we pretty much exclusively shoot the factory Hornady 123gr SST and a majority of the time use a 24" barreled set up because thats what the box data is based on as they use a 24" test barrel for that so its a fast conversion in the field when we need to. I have killed 1x Elk with a 18" barreled upper at 200yds (head shot) and 3 Antelope with the same upper within 200yds as well. The 24" barreled upper has killed 7+/- Elk, 3x Ibex, 2x Barbary Sheep, 1x White Tail, 1x Mtn Lion, 1x Javelina from 150yds to 480yds. My 15yr old son shot a Cow Elk at 480yds (one shot kill – neck shot) for the longest stretch out of the 6.5Grendel, one Ibex was at 436yds and a Elk and Ibex again at 400yds. Someone documented a Cow Moose kill in AK with a 6.5Grendel and either a 18" or 20" barreled upper at 100yds as well with a one shot kill. The 6.5Grendel has a payload and ballistics to pretty much handle most Big Game as long as Shot Placement and Appropriate Distances are followed.
Its an incredibly great caliber for youth hunters, small framed beginner hunters, females, and others because its low recoiling, affordable to shoot alot and get very solid consistent hits with and build confidence with for the needed shot placements. In several states its not legal to hunt with a 5.56 but it is with a 6.5Grendel – CO for example requires a .240Cal or larger for Big Game Hunting and thus a 6.5Grendel is legal to hunt Big Game with, NM allows any center fired caliber but your limited in distance and size of game potentially with the 5.56 if you did hunt with it where as the 6.5Grendel can reasonably handle any Big Game animal in NM.

We have a YT Channel as well for hunting with ARs and a MeWe Group. Follow along or Join in and contribute pics and info if you are a Hunter using the AR platform

  4. I could not make it more than 2 minutes into this video. Boring. I have used a .223 for deer and it is OK, but 100 grain bullets are the start point for a good deer rifle. There seems to be a mania for long range shooting these days with less than efficient cartridges. If you need "Specialty ammo" to get results, you are under gunned.

  5. The grendel is far superior to the 5.56! The military should have gone to the 6.5 grendel instead of the 6.8 spc! The man talking is full of bull! I have killed deer at 400 yards and dropped them dead in their tracks. The only drawback for a military rifle is that the ammo weighs about double the weight as the 5.56! A great designated marksman rifle. You can also use the ak 47. 7.63 x 39 cases to make cases for the 6.5 grendel!

  6. Which is better? They are 2 very different platforms. Both have their uses . AR15 is a combat rifle workhorse if you will. The 6.5 Grendel at 20” is more of a DMR style rig . I have both and use 1 for 0-300 the other I use for 300-1500ish .
