When it comes to pistol lights for Night Vision, the TLR-VIR II by Streamlight brings a lot to the table at a good price. Featuring a 300 lumen white light as well as a linked IR (Infrared) light and laser. All running off of one CR123 battery.

I used the light on my primary carbine during the AMTAC Shooting 3 Day Night Vision course. It did great there as well as on my pistol during another 1 Day Introduction to Night Vision Course by Cuyval Dar Inc.

  1. Seems like a great ir option for secondary. It would be really nice to replace the battery out the front so you wouldnt need to rezero but with the laser I'm guessing they decided to go out the back like the trl-1&2s.

  2. I've got a few VIR-2's, and have kinda-sorta decided that they're good enough for 90% of the stuff I need IR for. The spill is awesome, the throw is adequate, the footprint is small, the controls are simple (and familiar), the weight is awesome…

…it's everything I need (for anything shy of illuminating LR targets while spotting, or using a clip-on) and nothing more. For $300ish (give or take $50), they're a steal.

  3. Pretty good illumination the surefire x400 vampire has such a narrow beam. I mean fantastic hot spot but not my personal top choice out of the three! Keep up the great stuff!
@Kit Badger thanks for what you do Ivan

  4. It would be awesome to see Streamlight make a Carbine version of this that includes a visible laser with customers choice of tex or green, and include the ramped button and pressure they use on their RM2 rifle light…but with dual fuel so it can run on 2x CR-123’s or one Douche Flute 18650 battery. Same head design with light around the laser.

  5. Really dig your “run what you brung” mentality in a lot of your nods gear. It gets a little overwhelming with some of the YouTube guys who have literally tens of thousands of dollars of nods gear. I’m over here trying to get my hands on some decent kit for my load out because most units don’t take mos specific use seriously.
