Awesome video, really thank you for saving my wallet. I have sleek side upper for my 22lr but sometimes it doesn’t feed all the way so I wanted to get a new upper with forward assist with the Cmmg FA kit. Now I know this doesn’t work so I am not gonna waste money on buying a new upper
I agree with you’re discovery got the cmmg bolt also I found golden Remington also do that problem. Only brand I found works is CCI mini mag rounds it’s due to the smooth copper head bullet if it has a grove or ribbed it will cause that failure to feed or other feeding issues
Well keep in mind a lot of manufacturers do not offer a forward assist for a reason…. it's dangerous. The rim crushes to ignite the primer… think about that for a second. You run the risk of out of battery KB which probably wouldn't hurt anything on the gun but definitely can hurt you or a bystander. I believe CMMG makes it a polymer assembly so you probably damage the forward assist before you can actually crush the rim. Edit: Actually CMMG states the forward assist is made of glass filled nylon similar to the guide/bolt stop on their magazines. You say it's a design flaw, but I believe this is intentional for safety reason.
I have a forward assist adapter from fostec outdoors mad of steel and it will close the cmmg bolt all the way it is part of a kit to convert the cmmg bolt to work with the echo trigger, the adapter is supposed to help prevent bolt /hammer bounce.
Really no reason to have one in your situation. How often do I ever need a FA on a 22 kit you might ask? Never have seen the need to have one in the thousands of rounds of 22 I have shot thru my AR.

Also, you don't just push the FA with your thumb, you hit it hard with your palm!
I have the same problem

Good to know about the FA. I don't think I'll get the adapter then. Save some cash. Thanks.
