Long has the ak vs ar debate raged. 5 years ago CMMG announced the mk47 mutant an ak hybrid that fires the 7.62×39 or ak round. This made it the first viable 7.62×39 ar 15. Today we are looking a the short rifle setup, also available as a pistol. This AR meets AK combo gives all the ergonomic benefits of a short AR setup, but allows you to shoot surplus ammo. The SBR is based on the CMMG 200 series and will simply beat the pants off anything you can find on the AK files, especially when compared to a suppressed AK 47.

  1. I recently purchased the Banshee 300 MK47/8in barrel and I was curious what suppressor you recommend? I was originally considering the Trash Panda, but now I’m thinking the OSS HX-QD 762 Ti might be a better option with the flow through design. Trying to decide on a suppressor is difficult. I’ve never owned one before and I had no idea about gas blowback. I didn’t realize how much a suppressor can negatively affect a rifle.

  2. Just because it's chambered in 7.62 and takes AK mags that does NOT make it a hybrid. It's just an AR that takes AK mags and chambered in 7.62… the gas and operating system is still the basic AR platform… now if it used same gas system or bcg the AK has THEN you could call it a hybrid

  3. What is great about 7.62×39 that alot of people forget to mention, is that its doesnt loose velocity like 5.56mm. Glade that you added that. A short barrel in this caliber makes alot more sense. Also something alot of folks dont realize is if you take a 10 inch 7.62×39 and a 10 inch. 308. The 7.62×39 will have more velocity then it as well. One of the best calibers for a shorty.
