New gear alert! Chris shows a great way to convert your AR 5.56/2.23 to .22lr giving you a great way to continuing training without using all your ammo. This is also fantastic for new shooters to get accustomed to ARs.

I love mine! I've run the "bucket" stuff through it and have not had any issues!
Tip – If you have a CMMG .22lr magazine with a capacity limit. The magazine can be take apart and the limiter can be pulled out.
Mags can be converted from 10 round to 25 round by disassembling, removing the limiter pin, and reassembling. Free and easy, takes 5 minutes per mag… 👍
Tried mine with both my stock AR-15 and it slamfires all the time, malfunctions are common even after 500 rds
You should be able to open the mag and remove the 10 round limiter pin. That will also make it easier to clean.
Thats a great piece of gear. It makes your ar a multi round platform. Ive looked into the x calibar but passed considering its only a single shot, this is far superior
A few years ago I just bought the Smith and Wesson mp15/22. And 5 mags. Great for training
I find they work best with CCI minimags.
😂 I literally just posted a video on this exact kit today!!!! Also, highly recommend the “better mag” adapter so you can utilize any m&p 15-22 mags which are much easier to load imho. 😉
Oh!!! And you can get that cmmg kit with the 25 round mags too, I got the bravo which came with three of them. But I do love that better mag adapter which lets me use the 25 round m&p ones once again, soooo much nicer.
I’ve run this with Thunderbolt and works great most of the time.
25 round are the largest commonly available. Mine runs great. You can also hit plates to train at distance that you never could with .556.
Did you test it with a 10/22 Rugger ?
Yep those are pretty nice! Enjoy!
That is not training, that's saving money – I wrote the policy on that – US Army💪
Does the higher twist rate of AR barrels have any impact on the accuracy of 22 ammo?
Mine worked great for practicing malfunction drills
This is a great unit. Had it in one of my rifles for years now. Works great!
Are they available in22mag?
when i was in the military almost 40 years ago, and we used a similar item in our m-16s for target practice, they work fine….
I would love to have one of these though I don’t really need any more 22lr..like he said,it would be perfect for training with your AR-15s without going through some much money in fairly expensive ammo…I mean,.223/5.56 isn’t THAT expensive compared to other bigger rounds but it costs a fortune in comparison to 22lr…I may buy one of these some day just for training purposes
You need to get the buffer tube insert— goes into and locks in the buffer tube by pushing in and turning. takes up the slop in the carrier by forcing it forward with buffer spring and allows you to shoot less powerful shells. made my rifle a lot less cranky about ammo. this is a hard plastic piece about 2" long and as big around as buffer tube. I had to get it from another source, cmmg didn't sell it, but you can find it on youtube . was not happy trying to run this without the buffer tube insert, if you can "chuck" the carrier forward and back when it's in battery, this will fix the problem. get the set with the charging handle, keeps blow back of gas from hitting you in face by being shaped a little different and doesn't let gas by it. if you add these, you will be happy you did. AND don't leave in firearm long term, will carbon up stick, also get a good bore/chamber brush to clean the lugs, they get very dirty. you need to shoot some .556 though it to clean the gas tube, it will plug if you don't "blow" it out once and a while, just when you're done, shoot a couple and you'll be fine, also get it with the the forward assist part so that works, basic kit doesn't allow for that. these are in the cmmg kit if you get the right one. this doesn't help the accuracy problem, but will make it run smooth
Absolutely! I got their complete upper.
