We test the velocity loss from 16″ to 10.5″ to 7.5″ AR-15’s in .223/5.56 over a chronograph.

It basically goes down 400 on velocities 3200s to 2800s to 2400s
Great video with good test results. Was most surprised by the 100+fps spread on the same weapon. Thank you.
I don't see anymore of these 7.5" AR pistols on that website. You know where else i can find one?
I have a big family, my youngest gets the 7 1/2. If the knock isn't right. Tresspassers beware.
Those red clips are sexy I don't whether to shoot the gun or fk it
Though the velocity is higher in the 16" barrel, I think I would prefer the 10.5" barrel for maneuverability! Thank you for the experiment!
Is the 7.5 so bad I think it looks clean and cooler it's still gonna light you up within a football field if u can shoot
In the end, shot placement is key. Killing your target, especially in a self-defense scenario, would be a good outcome, but no two targets are going to behave the same. All three of those options are very capable of getting the job done. Strike your target in critical places…they will go down. Or at least change their behavior.
👍👍🇺🇸
Thanks for doing this, chronos and guns arent cheap and even ammo is about a million dollars, it's appreciated.
I didn't know julian from Trailer Park Boys reviewed guns lol
16 all the way!👍
For those worried about over penetration….from a 10.5 inch barrel…..a 55gr FMJ 5.56 will penetrate about 22 inches of naked ballistic gel at about 12ft….which isn't that bad considering it's not passing through any clothing, etc…that would slow it down a little. Word of advice….invest in a can or suppressor….not a muzzle break. The flash and bang from that short barrel is brutal.
Great video
This may be a rookie question, but isn’t it illegal to use the stock or brace on your shoulder when shooting an ar pistol? Thanks
I heard for the .223/.556 to tumble, fragment and have its max potential the bullet needs to be going around 3,000 for. Any of them would wreck you, but I'm glad I have the 18 inch Ruger 5.56 mpr.
Im surprised you could achieve over 3000 in a 16inch barrel.
Palmetto State Armory sucks. They sent me a used optic and when I wanted to return it, they said I had to pay for shipping!!
5 minutes and straight to the point? Great job and thank you for not wasting anyones time. i stopped supporting amazon awhile ago, they dont like us having guns.
Those three lower from Anderson but not PSA?
Nice video. Like. Sub. I prefer the 10.5 because it’s just in between the 3 and easy enough to pack away and in your car. Wanted to build another 10.5in AR pistol but will be building a 7.5in because that was the only 5.56 barrel I liked and I could get that wasn’t sold out.
11.5 & 12.5 are my favorites.
Hulk Hogan
Good video, keep it up.
That was a nice video. Thank you for that.
I have a 16.. but I want a 7.5.. Lol.
Great video and thanks for posting. I'm a lever gun guy by heart, but been sniffing around for an AR. Ran across these pistol barrels in the AR platform and was wondering the same thing: 10.5 vs 7in barrel. Great info and thanks for posting! 10inch barrel would be my choice too!
Have a 7.5 and anything smaller than 16 inch is a cqb and they both still have plenty of velocity to kill and be lethal machines for cqb engagements and that’s what mines for
All three are great. The 7.5" would be my choice if shooting 10m-75m, 75m-150m 10.5", and 150m- 300m 16". Nice comparison.
I have proven that velocity will always be higher with longer barrel
18 in with a one and 8 twist
