  1. Mine works great, except for one thing. The last round in the mag tends to jam and get bent up, happens about 50% of the time. Racking doesn't clear it, I have to pull the bolt carrier out and manually remove the round. This is probably an anomaly with mine because I've heard nothing but good about these kits.

Overall I'd give it a 9/10, only because of that flaw, otherwise it works perfectly well!

  2. When the PSA .22LR complete uppers are in stock they cost around $350 and turn your standard AR15 lower into a real .22LR AR with a real .22LR barrel. Works with SW 15/22 mags, CMMG mags and one other mag I have from a third-party I can't remember. I've put about 500 rounds through mine with only couple extraction fails. Likely fewer extraction fails than any of my 10/22s with the same round count. The CMMG is cheaper but I like having a proper 22LR barrel instead of firing dirty rimfires through my good .223 Wylde barrel.

  3. Beware the thunderbolt ammo creates massive leading. We shot tens of thousands of rounds through our 4-h rifles and pistols. It was cheap and accuracy was great for bulk ammo but the leading built up so fast and so extreme it was unreal. Lead flakes would literally be projecting from the end of the barrel by the end of a couple hundred rounds.

  4. I'll chime in with the rest of the "This is a must have!!!!11eleventy1!!" fanbois 🙂 But around the 9:45-10 minute mark, a quibble: there's another, easier way – Put your .223/5.56 bolt back in, and fire 2-3 rounds of "full strength" to blow out the gas system. ESPECIALLY if you run non-CP (naked or lubed lead) when feeding it .22LR. Wipe the frame rails and spring/guide rod down with a nice oily rag from time to time, too – In my experience, they run happiest when kept "just barely moist".

  5. 24.99 for a box of 20, .223 at my local gun store. Same ammo was 7.95 a box one year ago. I am getting one of these kits for my Bushmaster. Great video. Thank you.

  6. I recently purchased one these CMMG kits, I love it. When training, muscle memory does not care what caliber your are using. I've run about 400 rounds through it without a single issue. Yes, the bolt catch does not hold the BCG and the forward assist does not function unless you purchase the forward assist adaptor (not a necessity). Also the charging handle only pulls halfway back. Gunmag warehouse sells the CMMG magazines for $20.00.
