Surefire Scout Light vs Streamlight ProTac Rail Mount Weaponlight

Streamlight ProTac Railmount versus Surefire Scout weapon lights. While I have recommended the best weaponlight, Surefire Scout, in the past. And at times I have recommend the Streamlight ProTac Railmount. Which one do I actually recommend? Haha. Well, if you watch enough of my videos, you will know that I believe in buy once cry once. Save up, get something that will last the test of time. For a weapon light, a Surefire Scout weaponlight will do just that. It is all around built better. But is that extra $200 worth it to you? That is up to you to decide. I have both weapon lights on different rifles. So I could go either way, but on my rifle that I depend on as my first one I would grab if SHTF, it has a Surefire Scout light on it with a Cloud Defense mount for the tape switch.

  1. I have both as well. I do like the Surefire brank on pic rails a lot more. The pressure pads I use are by Surefire themselves and it just snaps on the rails. Make for really smooth weapon. However, I do like Streamlight and how their pressure pads have holes in them. It allows for more easier mounting on weapons that do not have pic rails on them. I have it on my turkey gun and a couple of ARs that have the standard plastic handguards. The pressure switch has two holes in them so you can use zipties to mount it between the holes.

  2. Been running Streamlights for years (12 at least) with zero issues, but one important thing that you forgot to mention is that Surefire strictly warns against using rechargeable batteries (read the fine print). The Streamlights that I run will take c123, c123r and 18650, can’t say that about the overpriced Surefire !

  3. A comparison between 2 lights without actually showing the whole purpose you bought the light for!, No comparison shown on Illumination??? You seem to be bumping surefire pretty hard so I'm assuming the streamlight beats it in actually lighting up an area, and you didnt want to show it. Does surefire send you products for free?

  4. Nice vid man, never understood why the surefire doesn’t come with a tail cap & pressure switch. Just charge a few bucks more. Those fuckers get you comin’ n going. They make great products tho

  5. I have used Streamlight for years as EDC and a weapon light. They have worked well in classes I've taken. The only time I saw flashlights go down was two Surefire lights in a low light carbine class. If I ever upgrade WML it will be to a MODLITE. Surefire donated $10,000 to anti-gun politician Senator Diane Feinstein. I won't support Surefire financially.

  6. Great video.
I'm running another Streamlight Protac HLX on an mlok Arisaka Denfense offset mount. Not going to run the Cloud Defense LCS mk2 system this time and see how it goes. Just going to use the tail cap button. I had zero issues with my last Streamlight with 5,000 rounds through the rifle before selling it. I'm hoping this one holds up just as well.

I have a Surefire G2X Tactical on my AK and for $60 with an Olight $12 offset mount, it's been solid on my Ultimak rail. Highly recommend this setup as well.

  7. Streamlight makes a Pro Tac Rail Mount 1, a Rail Mount 2 and a Dual Fuel Rail Mount HL-X and you never mention which one your testing. Surefire makes a multiple of Scout 300 series and 600 Series and a Dual Fuel version and you never mention which one your comparing.

In addition the MSRP's for Surefire lights alone are about $200. more than a comparable Streamlight, adding a tail cap and tape switch to the Surefire adds another $100. So I could buy 3 Streamlights for every Surefire. How's that for redundancy!!

Both Surefire and Streamlight are great products, with strengths and weaknesses, but your doing a disservice to your viewers with your incomplete and shallow review…….

  8. Streamlights are decent lights for the money I guess, but I've always favored surefire because its track records. However, lately I've been not only favoring but also using the modlite lights which in my opinion are superb.

  9. Interesting thoughts on the battery spring(?) and the cable. Those are probably the two weakest points in the lights. I think i am going with the Unity Tactical Hot Botton for my front end set up. The more crap you hang off the front, the more precious the real estate becomes. Love the set ups you got. The paint jobs are always on point! I would like to request an updated paint job video when you get the budget Jack Carbine finished. It would be interesting if any of your previous techniques have changed. Take care!
