Great video, man. Thanks!
Just got an ar-15 front sight gas block, and it didn’t have the hole for the barrel? WTF?
Thank you for this video it SAVED me with a 9mm build.
This may be the solution I was looking for. Thank you!
Now I need to buy a 10/32 tap …..
I broke 4 different bits today and even gacked my vice when pushing in a taper pin………..after that. I was sick of taper pins I love the gas block on my other AR….. it has set screws. With dimples and a small amount of blue locktite
Great job buddy! I just came up with this idea in my head ( well I thought I did) so I looked it up on YouTube and sure enough someone has already done it! I'm going to get this job done tonight
Great video,
I did this but I didn't do it through the bayonet lug. I only did it on the rear. My front sight base moves ever so slightly under force so you definitely need to do both holes or do some holes on the side. Hope this helped someone.
Edit: I did NOT dimple the barrel.
glad i ran across your vid. the cheapest i found near me to drill the barrel was 80 bucks, thanks for the heads up !
When I drilled the second, longer set screw (after the shorter set screw was already holding the gas block firmly in place on the barrel, I just drilled a little deeper past the bayonet lug (1/8th inch), so yes, I put a very deep dimple on the barrel; probably a little too deep, but it did the job.
Did you dimple the barrel for the second set screw? (the bayonet lug)
Definitely helpful! I was about to toss this damn sight base lol
nice helpful vid.
