Precision AR Build is Complete!

Showing the completed Smith & Wesson lower by itself and coupled to the Rock River Arms 24″ Varmint upper. This rifle also has a match grade 3 lb. Timney trigger, a Magpul CTR stock in Flat Dark Earth, Magpul K Grip, and an ArmaLite mount holding a Weaver 3-10×44 scope. This was my first time building up a completely stripped lower receiver. It was not too difficult, thanks to an excellent video from Sootch00 (Don) at Fun Gun Reviews. If you are assembling a lower for the first time, I highly recommend it. The new Timney trigger feels fantastic, and I’m eager to try it out soon.

Here’s what I used to assemble this rifle:
-Smith & Wesson M&P15 Lower receiver
-Rock River Arms 24″ Varmint Upper receiver
CMMG lower parts kit
Magpul CTR stock
Magpul K Grip
-Timney 3 lb. trigger (optional)
-DSA Complete Buffer Tube Kit
-ArmaLite mount P/N EX0027 (optional)

  1. A 24" varmint build using a collapsible stock? Probably the most pointless set up in regards to precision shooting as that stock will not be stable at all.  I would highly recommend adding an A2 fixed stock and a better stock.

  2. Nice, I recently built my first ar, completely custom mid length carbine. There really is a sense of pride in doing it yourself. How do you like the k grip? I am considering putting one on a build I am doing for my sister

  3. Thank you sir. I'm not selling mine. No one I know is going to register their rifles. I'll just put them in storage next door in Nevada if it comes to that. Hopefully this new batch of b.s. will get thrown out in the courts. I'll check out your channel!

  4. Very nice rifle. Sucks about the new laws your state has chosen to enact on you. I finished my AR build not too long ago. Got some pretty decent videos up about that if you feel like taking a look see. Take care and go shooting soon before you won't be able to shoot it anymore. Hey, are y'all gonna have to sell all your AR's and AK's out there in Cali?

  5. Nice job! I'm excited for you…I think I might build my first one now that I've watched your video. It'll be a while since I can't find any parts at this time. It's probably for the best, this way I can do more research before buying anything. Again, good job, your gun looks awesome!

  6. Thanks for replying!! And i know what you mean. People are going nuts. But we have 2nd admendment rights there is no way this will happen, well I hope not! What pistols would you recodmend? I already have a g19

  7. At this point my friend, the pickings are very slim. ARs and AKs are both flying off the shelves, as well as the ammo, because of the possibility of a new assault weapons ban. If you really want one, be prepared to pay way too much and get whatever you can find in stock. Personally I prefer the AR platform. I like to practice longer range shooting, which is why I have the longer barrels. My go to rifle is my Stag AR – the one in this video is just for precision shooting. I do have a WASR AK too

  8. I commented on another one of your videos, But what ar would you recomend buying? Could you do a break down of like the top 3? and do the pros and cons of each? Like cost, components, comfort and style, and probably customizability. But also how would you compare this to an ak? Only becuase i want soemthing that can handle junk ammo..
