If new the inside sure has a lot of scratches. Looks like a charging handle sure was used a lot as you can see where it rubbed. Also looks like scratches where the bolt slides also.

Ptac is a complete different brand I buy a lot of parts from PSA always top notch for the money the freedom stuff is as good as any 700 or under ar15 rifle and for 200 shipped you cant beat it.
Btw it's not buy-a-net lug, it's bay-o-net lug

You hit on it, the contour under the handguards is to reduce weight. It probably actually costs more to machine it like that. Not much, but more.

Nice upper purchase. The freedom uppers use 416R instead of plain 416 stainless which is an important point if you live anywhere it might get below freezing when using your gun.Keep up the vids!
