In the “spooky” desert that everyone flees we check out the Vortex Strike Eagle scopes. These mid priced tactical carbine, AR15 scopes that seem to provide better performance then their price would indicate. Two versions are tested: 1-6x24mm and 1-8x24mm. A Nutnfancy build BCM AR15 is one testbed and the other will be a surprise but it hasn’t been seen in a long time!
We consider the eye relief especially in this night time shoot, illumination, size/weight, clarity, reticle functionality, value, and more. An interesting comparison is proffered. But we see this Vortex Strike Eagle scopes sell well and are favored for good reasons.

Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24mm, top recommendation, great scope:
Limited Edition FDE version, cool:

I have the 1-6 and I actually love the reticle. it tells you to zero out to 50 yds and then the first hash is 50 and 200 yd zero and the top of the post is 100 and each hash is another hundred yards out to 600. I haven't pushed it out that far but it works to 300 to a T for just American Eagle 55 gr. the side bars are for Kentucky windage and those helped in the conditions I was shooting in too.

Dude Nutn you might want to look at the scopes from primary optics, their 1-8 scopes are pretty awesome. Good budget scopes, their high end stuff is nothing to scoff at either man. I know you dig their red dots but I never saw you review their ACSS reticle scopes. Thanks for the good videos man, keep it up.

Assume you mean Primary Arms not primary optics? This came up a while back, several of us were recommending a Primary Arms variable power review. I think Nutn commented he would check one out. Fingers crossed

Lately, I’m digging my fixed Nikon P tactical .233
3×32 BDC. Simple, effective, huge field of view. Less experienced shooters can handle it and often don’t need variable power.

Excellent review on a very popular scope. I'm a Leupold guy, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these.

I put my SE 1-8 on an MVP TR edition. Pretty happy with the setup so far.

Strike Eagle is fine budget option. I have PST Gen2 1-6×24 on my primary rifle. Considering to buy Strike Eagle for my M&P 15-22. Also, I miss my Battlecomp 🙁 Sold it when changed my suppressor into low pressure one, which locks into proprietary muzzledevice.

My Seekins Precision SP15 came with the 1-6 version on it out of box. It is still wearing it now 3 years later. Vortex recommends a 50 yard zero for the BDC so that is where it is dialed in. I just hold under a bit at closer range. In my POU I think that those hash marks are running the wrong way. I always wish that scopes built for the AR15 platform should have hold under hashes for say 20 and 10 yards. Closer than that is point and shoot territory says me. One thing I wish they had thought of personally is a timed shutoff on the illumination. Never fails that I pick it up in low light and it is dead because I cannot ever seem to remember to turn it off. At the price point yeah I know I should pony up for a NIGHTFORCE and SUCK LESS Totally kidding dudes, the scope will remain on my Seekins. It does the job it was built to do.

I run a Vortex SE 1-6 on my 16 inch 223 Wylde upper, and a Vortex Crossfire 2-7 (non-illuminated) on my 18 inch 6.5 Grendel upper. Enjoy them both… never had a problem with the illumination on the Strike Eagle with somewhere between 1000-1500 rounds though it"

  2. You can actually zero out your dials by using a small flathead to move that inner black ring to zero notch on both windage and elevation. There is a small notch to place the flathead in. You have to hold the outer adjustment ring when you do this to prevent it moving.

  3. Just picked up the 1-8 and sits atop my LWRC DI. For the $ spent I couldn't be happier. Was so close to pulling the trigger on the primary arms 1-6 or 1-8. That will be next. I have a cz scorpion carbine that could use an optic…thinking a 3x prism maybe? Anybody have experience/recommendations? The iron sights are amazing out the box but I'm still looking

  4. Mine doesn't have a DOT in the center of it. The vertical crosshair line simply comes to an end, in the center of the circle, slightly above the first horizontal crosshair(50-200). The tip of that vertical line is for the apex of the trajectory 100-150 yards. I've also found that the 400 yard crosshair is a perfect holdover at 20 yards.

  5. This is one of the exact optics that has been recommended to me by a couple of the r.o's at the range i go to weekly as I have decent shooting talent, practice a lot, but have a bad astigmatism. I'm not saying I'm winning two gun comps all the time, but I don't suck: and i wouldn't shoot this thing just at night. Astigmatism is real, nutnfancy! Edit: My favorite range in OKC, Big Boys, is also a decent gun shop. That's why they recommend an optic, but only because I asked and they see me coming a lot.

  6. I built a 6.5 grendle with aero m4e1 recievers and am running a vortex strike eagle 1-8 it has been a really good scope thus far …. I pretty much run vortex and burris on everything great value for the money
