Dmak Outdoors – AR Pistol Build – 300 Blackout Build

Decided to assemble an AR Pistol that doesn’t quite look like everyone else’s. I wanted a semi-budget-friendly option that was short, light and rugged without totally breaking the bank.

Been a big fan of the GearHeadWorks Tailhook pistol brace so far. In my opinion, it is a much better option than the Shockwave or SB braces.

Build list is as follows

– Anderson 10.5 inch 300 Blackout 1:8 Twist barrel
– Anderson Pistol Build Kit
– GearHeadWorks Tailhook MOD 1 Pistol Brace
– BCM Gunfighter MOD 4 Charging Handle
Magpul MIAD Grip
Magpul ASAP QD Retaining plate
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
– RRA National Match 3.5 lb 2 Stage Trigger
Magpul MBUS Flip Up Sights
EOTech XPS2-0 Holographic Sight
– Seekins Precision KNOX 9 in  Mlok Handguard
– Seekins Precision Adjustable Gas Block
– Seekins Precision M20 Mlok Angled Foregrip
Magpul Aluminum Offset Mlok mount
– Surefire X300u Weapon Mounted Light
– Yankee Hill 5×8/24 Thread Protector

  1. That is the reason I am going with 10.5 in barrel due to the full powder burn other wise I was going to go with a 6 to 7.5 in. But need to maximize the powder burn I am in the process of getting my 300 blackout built

  2. Cool build. Similar to what I wound up with. I agree, the GHW tailhook works well for what it is. IMO using it as intended is far superior to other "pistol" braces if your actually using it like a brace. Shooting suppressed 300 subs you still get the action noise against your ear especially the spring and BCG in the tube if its up against your ear. Don't hear that holding it out there like an actual pistol. Considered yet throwing a can out front of it?
