@21:59 – As I understand it the head-space is a part of the barrel. As in, the head-space is a result of how the barrel was turned/bored out at the factory. The overall chamber/head-space length might be affected by how the barrel nut it shimmed and tightened – but with a gas/piston-return system, the nut tightening seems to be affected more those systems getting clearance.
As I understand it the head-space gauge comes into play with reloading. How far off of the shoulder of the brass can the bullet sit so it is the correct/wanted distance from the where the lanes are rifled into the barrel. In most cases the max Over All Case Length (OAL) allowed by your magazines is more important and might be shorter…
dude is a gunsmith but doesn't make sure the barrel nut is PROPERLY torqued to manufacterer's specs?
cringe
lol "u just gotta play with thr torque settings" hahahaha. please dont touch anyone elses ar15 please
stop telling people that you build it if someone else did it for you
repping good ol AZ!!!!!
Bad ass ar15. Bad ass 👕!
Do you find that you need a muzzle break on a .223/5.56? Seems like an odd accessory for an AR to me, but maybe they're popular. I've just never seen a need for one on an AR or M-16.
Don't tread on my obama care comrade!
The torque spec on a AR-15 barrel nut is 80ft-lb. I call bullshit. Torque to spec or fail.
Thanks for the video, I am in the process of building my own right now and I am wanting the gas piston set up. What piston kit was used in this video? Thanks!
Great video! Reminds me of my first AR-15 build! Enjoy!
would the Osprey piston system work with a slim free float handguard? I have the MI SSK 10.5in FF handguard and I'm not sure the piston system will work with it since it's "super slim" with a 1.5in outer diameter.
Great rifle you have and nice video. Need to know what brand did you use for free float handguard and barrel nut. I am in the process of upgrading my rifle.
BTW, I notice there is no torque on the barrel nut and headspace check after the barrel installed.
@poisonstinger is it possible to get a piston system separate from the bolt carrier group?
Lovin the az flag
thanks for sharing the video and Mr. Silencer is awesome.
How is it even possible to screw up the head space on an AR-15? I've built two ARs as well as one of my friends and have never needed to check head space. The AK on the other hand is a completely different animal, it is a complete pain in the ass to put together in every way, but once it is together, it is not going anywhere.
By far one of the nicest ARs ive seen. Nice build.
what kinda floatin hand rail do you have on it? id like to get me one.
Do you have a complete parts list for the upper I could reference
Bruce is a very knowledgable gun smith he has built my guns from the start to finish on multiple occasions
what kind of fore end is that? i've heard most won't fit with a piston system…did you consider many others?
Great video, when I build an ar will have to look at a piston system for sure.
AWESOME rifle you got there BrotherRussell!! Me want!! :)) Can't wait to see the rangevideo! Have a great week now, and please give Heidi and Kyla a big hug from me and Fia!!
Looks Great Russ…..Looking forward to your range report…
That thing looks amazing brah! All your saving, waiting and hard work are about to pay off. I'm stoked to see you fire that bad boy. Congrats bro.
Sweet build dude! I just started buying parts for a 11.5 pistol build. Gonna be a few months before i get the rest of the parts. But ima make my 1st youtube vid when im done with it. Lol
Sweet rifle Stinger , and informative video …
It's a sweet looking AR, you are going to enjoy shooting it.
I enjoyed this video very much. Nice job.
Hey, where have you been, dude? I haven't seen you around here in a while.
I have been to armor course and headsspeace is a must unless you buy your bolt and barrel from the same company , I have built more than 25 ar15s and a few ar10 and I did come a cross one bad barrel the champer was deeper and it will close on a field Guage . Its wierd how he was showing you tge locking which it dosnt mean anything . I had bolts were tight I had to open ans slam them closed for 30 times to bond .
Bro you still alive I havent heard from you for a while , good looking ar
