  1. @21:59 – As I understand it the head-space is a part of the barrel. As in, the head-space is a result of how the barrel was turned/bored out at the factory. The overall chamber/head-space length might be affected by how the barrel nut it shimmed and tightened – but with a gas/piston-return system, the nut tightening seems to be affected more those systems getting clearance.

As I understand it the head-space gauge comes into play with reloading. How far off of the shoulder of the brass can the bullet sit so it is the correct/wanted distance from the where the lanes are rifled into the barrel. In most cases the max Over All Case Length (OAL) allowed by your magazines is more important and might be shorter…

  2. Do you find that you need a muzzle break on a .223/5.56? Seems like an odd accessory for an AR to me, but maybe they're popular. I've just never seen a need for one on an AR or M-16.

  3. Thanks for the video, I am in the process of building my own right now and I am wanting the gas piston set up. What piston kit was used in this video? Thanks!

  4. Great rifle you have and nice video. Need to know what brand did you use for free float handguard and barrel nut. I am in the process of upgrading my rifle.

BTW, I notice there is no torque on the barrel nut and headspace check after the barrel installed.

  5. How is it even possible to screw up the head space on an AR-15? I've built two ARs as well as one of my friends and have never needed to check head space. The AK on the other hand  is a completely different animal, it is a complete pain in the ass to put together in every way, but once it is together, it is not going anywhere.

  6. Sweet build dude! I just started buying parts for a 11.5 pistol build. Gonna be a few months before i get the rest of the parts. But ima make my 1st youtube vid when im done with it. Lol

  7. I have been to armor course and headsspeace is a must unless you buy your bolt and barrel from the same company , I have built more than 25 ar15s and a few ar10 and I did come a cross one bad barrel the champer was deeper and it will close on a field Guage . Its wierd how he was showing you tge locking which it dosnt mean anything . I had bolts were tight I had to open ans slam them closed for 30 times to bond .
