There is just about nothing that is more fun than an afternoon plinking with your .22 rifle. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. OpticsPlanet sent me this CMMG Bravo .22LR Conversion Kit for my AR. All you do is change out the BCG and start plinking. I love it!

  1. I have a .22lr upper from CZ for my German Schmeisser M4 and it is so much fun to shoot and ammo costs almost nothing. Same mags as in this video with 25 rounds and the work perfectly fine. 🇺🇸🇦🇹🙏🏻

  2. They have different versions of this kit and the one with 3 mags is the most cost effective as the individual cost of mags is high. These are lots of fun I go to the range and shoot 40-60 rounds of 5.56 then do another 100 rounds of 22lr. I have found at 50 yards the accuracy is reasonable.

  3. I rebuilt one of my AR-15's to include all the offensive features and put one of these CMMG .22lr bolts in it. To be an "assault rifle" in specifies "centerfire" so a .22lr conversion has not restrictions, it would be no different than the popular Smith & Wesson AR-15 22.

  4. I got mine from Brownells during freedom week. On Sale for $175 including 3 x 25 round magazines.
I have over 1500 rounds in 2 rifles, preformance has been remarkable, flawless, awsume really.
Lets unpack the Assault Weapon issue. 22 rimfire is exempt. that is clear.
11 CCR 5471 , Explaination of Terms Related to Assault Wrapon Designation:
    n. Disassembly, tells us a AR with the rear takedown pin remove and the upper lifted is disassembled .
hh. semiautomatic, this tells us what a semiautomatic is, it further tells us certian parts necessary to function in a semiautomatic nature must be present must be for the weapon to be deemed semiautomatic. It goes further, any weapon "lacking a firing pin, bolt carrier, gastube, or some other critical part is not a semiautomatic for the purposes of" …assault weapon ban.
So, with the centerfire bolt carrer removed it is disassembled, not a semiautomatic. With the conversion kit it is a rimfire. It is not an assault weapon. In addition I remove the buffer tube, a critical part, that missing, makes the rifle not semiautomatic for purposes of the assault weapon ban. In fact, as per 11 CCR 5471, if the centerfire bolt carrier group is installed , but the buffer tube or gas tube is missing its not a semiautomatic rifle.
I do not pack the centerfire bolt carrier group, the buffertube, any centerfire magazines, or 223/556 ammo , ever, in California when i leave the house. I also have a copy of 11 CCR 5471 in my range bag.
I can't imagine anyone claiming a AR with the conversion kit installed, is a assault weapon , espically if the gas or buffer tube is missing. I am interested in what the CRPA says about this.
I love this channel. Keep up the great work.

  5. I love my CMMG bolt kit now that I have it running without failure to ejects. Had to clean my bolt really good and make sure to oil it. Also need to run HV .22lr ammo. Can not use the magazine as a bipod or forward grip. That will also cause you issues.

Great for plinking, but loose accuracy due to the difference in 5.56/.223 and .22lr barrel twist rates.

About being able to keep it a featured rifle with the .22lr BCG in, I don't believe you can do that since the upper is actually a 5.56/.223 upper. If you had a dedicated .22lr upper, you could leave it featured. With the way things are here in CA, why risk it. Take the extra 10 minutes to swap the stock and grip out once you get out of state, then swap it back before returning.

  6. I’ve had mine for a couple years and love it. I used it to introduce my wife and young son to the AR platform and they really enjoy it. $200 sounds expensive but it pays for itself in ammo costs.

  7. Back in the sixties when they were sending all of the 223 ammo to Viet Nam the Air Force had a kit like this to put in our M16's. So that was what I qualified with before going to south east aisa for the second time. We had very few problems with the kit and what we did have may have been the 22lr ammo.

  8. Technically 22 caliber conversion kits are not legal to use in California if you use it is considered rechambering the firearm a different caliber and that is not legal at all in California

  9. What kinda of magnifier do you have behind your red dot? I have the same sight and have been looking into getting a magnifier for it. Would you recommend it? It certainly looks nice and I like the flip to the side hinge.
