Was out at the range yesterday, finally got a little bit of filming done. This is a friend of mine shooting, had him fire the rifle on cue (lol) to get some footage of it.
Check out his video from yesterday as well, for some footage of me shooting:
Thanks for watching!

I have the same exact weapon I bought back in the 90's new when I had my FFL. Good weapon, likes 223 and 5.56mm ammunition. Not a bad SHTF weapon to have up next to my SKS.
Needs to adjust his rear sight
Cresap! I am going tomorrow.
I love my Colt R6530 Lightweight…
Colt R6551 🙂 Wish they still made them (and soon so I can get one before the Freaking Stupid Act)
This was the Cresap Rifle Club in Fredrick; Smithsburg is about the same distance as I am from the range, so probably a 45 minute drive. Very casual (and cheap) range, great atmosphere for shooting. Can get a bit crowded, though.
Colt makes a great rifle, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Hey,love the vid!! What range is that? My dad just gave me his colt sporter and this range looks amazing!! I live in smithsburg so I guess I'm pretty close
oh nice
It's an old Colt Sporter model, it's a pretty popular and standard AR-15 so I wouldn't be surprised if your dad has something similar.
is that gun real right my dad has a real gun like that but another version
@rotorheadv8 My father bought this one at around that same time, and I also still have the box and even the plastic wrap it came in. Works like a charm (sat around for a period of around 20 years without being fired) and have still never had it jam or malfunction in any way. Would be the perfect gun for fun shoots, I wish you luck!
Bought one of these back around '89 or so. Still have it and the box it came in. Hope to participate in a couple of NRA fun shoots with it this summer.
Bought a Colt Sporter Target model back in '89. Think I paid about $650 NIB. Still have the rifle and the box.
This range looks like it has the right idea. I like their system. Shame british ranges aren't using this system. Health and saftey screw us big time.
@HiCapacity Yep, Frederick. The range officers I spoke with (filming this was actually the first time I went there) were all very nice and open. They were firm with the rules but forgiving and understanding. Couldn't have asked for better range officers.
@CasioEXF1Freak My father purchased this right before new legislature hit MD in the late 80's I believe, I really love it. Never had a single issue with it.
@taofledermaus The way it works at this range is you just go in and start shooting as soon as a lane is open, until a ceasefire is called on the hour. Then you retrieve your targets and the staff puts up new ones. When you leave you pay a flat price of $5 per shooter and $1 per target. It's my new favorite range by far.
Nice! The very first rifle I went to a gun store and purchased after I hit 18 ( a very, very long time ago lol ) was this same exact gun.
Nice footage! That rifle is a beast nomatter!
@MyHollowpoint This was the first time I had been to that range, and I can definitely say that it won't be the last. My favorite outdoor range I've been to by far.
Nice footage. Love the range.
