There are a lot of low power variable optics out on the market these days, but Nightforce has done something pretty awesome with the NX8 1-8 Rifle Scope.

They have managed to create a really compact and light weight scope, but at the same time, something that spans 1x power up to 8x power. That is significant since most optics top out at 6x power at the moment.

Additionally the Nightforce NX8 1-8 is a first focal plane scope. While a lot of people don’t care for FFP on low power variable scopes, the reticle in the NX8 lends itself well to the application. Not to mention the incredibly bright illumination settings.

If you are in the market for a low power variable, check out the Nightforce NX8 1-8.

  1. Good One Mr. Ivan!!..2 things please!..firstly, what kind of magazine are you using?? Secondly, do you think the NEW Atibal 1-10X would be worth reviewing?? I'm curious..nobody has reviewed that yet!!..Thanks!!..

  2. since the vortex is second focal plane, you'll get a more forgiving eyebox. It seems in most cases 2nd focal is the way to go with low variable scopes. If you need to hold elevation, you're most likely using full power anyways. Picking up this scope shortly, to see how it runs. good review, subscribed!

  3. I’ve just ventured into some of the better optics, with comp m5,T2Mro gen dot, after I was looking at the vudu, PA platinum 1-8x, I found a shepherd scopes rugged 1-8x mil r which some would argue is similar 1-6x for glass quality. I feel it’s close even if others may have a slight advantage as on sale was 435, shipped optics planet. As I’ve been waiting for a sale in the nx8 to put on a 14.5” G3 FDE noveske w/13.5” keymod NSR rail that I plan to try n get into local 3-Gun matches with, as I plan to pick up an Acss acog and either the Night force nx8 or the PA platinum 1-8x Griffen Moa as that reticle reminiscent to the one Leupold used in their 3400& 1-6/1-8x. With the tree of wind holds out to 25mph. Love the reviews & can’t wait to pick up shortly.

  4. What’s the reticle look like at 1 power? Can you still see where the bullet is going without illumination on?  Edit: asked too soon, that reticle actually gives you something useful at 1 power, cool.  If I ever want to shave half a pound off my do everything rifle I'll buy one of these to replace my Razor HD II 1-6.

  5. I love the size and weight of this optic. It’s so small in the world of ginormous 1-8’s. I’ve got to shoot it out to about 300 and it was a real pleasure. Really hard to beat. Will be the next scope I get.

  6. Need your opinion, I been looking at the Nightforce NX8 or the Trijcon VCOG. I know how durable Trijcon is. Sounds like the Nightforce is stout too. I'm looking for an optic to buy and keep. Are you going to keep the Nightforce?

  7. I like my NX8. I ordered it and a Kahles K16i to compare. The NX8 won out because of its size and higher top end magnification. The Kahles had clearer glass and a more forgiving eyebox but cost a little more. I do wish the center dot on FC-Mil reticle was smaller because you can't really see it at 1x even with illumination but at 8x it covers more of the target than I prefer.

  8. I got my trijicon AccuPower shortly before this came out. I wish I would have waited. The trijicon is incredible, don’t get me wrong. But I think I might have enjoyed the NX8 a little more.
