Overview: CMMG .22 conversion in 5.56 rifle and pistol

I went out testing my new CMMG .22 LR conversion kit for AR-15’s.

For an AR, this .22LR conversion for 5.56 replaces the existing bolt carrier. It also negates the need for a buffer tube receiver extension and buffer assembly.

This allows you to shoot .22 LR’s out of your 5.56/.223 AR platform rifle! Shoot on the cheap!

First impressions:
Ok it works pretty great and you get to use your original 5.56 equipment and rifle without using a range toy replacement if you plan on training. It’s got okay accuracy as far as I can tell (didn’t bring real targets so I’m kinda not 100% sure), but I’ve heard it suffers longer ranges. I used it on both my basic AR-15 in foliage, and my 7” AR-pistol.

Reloading the mags with the little .22 LR rounds is a pain in the rear end, the first few rounds are fine to insert but when you get to the 20th round it really starts fighting back or gets mildly stuck.
