So far I like this setup despite a minor complication which was quickly resolved. I will keep posting about this system on my website. Please feel free to ask questions and tell me what I am missing any details.

  1. so those hex screws have nothing to do with mounting the optic by the way. You can tighten them or loosen them as much as you want. It's for the protective cover. Only the large screw on in the middle controls the optic to the weapon.

  2. No Norinco AK came with a factory mounted side rail.
I worked for a distributor BTW back in the day.

I have 2 of them in 5.56…shoots right up there with any Mil-Spec AR!
AKRS mount and EoTech w/magnifer on mine.

    Good vid!

  3. I've been researching pistol grips for my AK. I've been looking at the US Palm grip. That's a US Palm grip on your rifle? How is it? Comfortable? Plus, do you happen to know how the US Palm grip would compare to the Tapco SAW style grip in comfort? Thanks.

  4. Well mine didn't have a problem sliding. It was simply that the picatinny rail hex screws were loose on top. This AK had a top rail cover originally but the previous owner said it was terrible so I went this route instead. Works great! Perhaps he just had an inferior quality product.

  5. i had the same issue when trying to mount my eotech on my ak74. the whole mount kept creeping forward untill it eventually fell off. i just bought a railed upper cover from texas weapons solutions and now i have no issues at all.

  6. @2:14 That is what happened to the original furniture (It was painted with textured black paint). To find the genuine Norinco furniture it would cost more than what I traded the rifle for. I agree I would have loved the Type 56 S wood but now I really like how much more ergonomic the modern plastic is. I will build or buy another rifle in the future because I want the classic wooden style.
