Ian and Karl unbox the next retro rifle from Brownell’s – the AR15-PROTO.
A *very small* number of these prototype AR15s were originally manufactured and so Brownells is truly resurrecting a rifle that none of us would have been able to even handle, never mind, fire and abuse, with this particular retro build.

Tactical schmatical I want shiny.
Nice!
Well these are on sale at Brownells right now so maybe pick one up.
No drill hole through the center of the carrying handle to mount a cheap Leapers 4x scope?
I love watching you guys, every episode is full of information and fun great job as always
Carl is my kind of crazy.
Do you need to "break in" the barrel or do you just do just start shooting right away?
Cool
Looks odd with the brown furniture, but I totally understand the joys of a lightweight rifle. I put my tax return into a Troy XM177E2 last year, and I love that little blaster. While it was in the FLGS before I picked it up, people were looking at it and amazed at how light it was.
Y handle charging handle. The M16A1 got the T handle. The original Air Force Contract had the Y handle.
was that a 4k camera behind Karl's head? I thought we'd never see the day.
Ya that's great, but at $1200 are they crazy. No way.
8:38 the ol' switcheroo: "that keep us like content creators alive" instead of "content creators like us" huehuehue
Makes me wish I lived in America.
The intro to this was hilarious. LMAO!
Good looking rifle
Brownells + InRangeTV👬👬👬🥰🥰🥰🥰
The last time you were so hot on a company it ended up committing seppuku and removing the coolest new gun on the market.
It's good that companies give you guys things. Then patreon money goes further into non-material goods, like travel and research. I love when you guys do the different side stops and talk about the history of something. Karl's old west vignettes or when Ian brings us onto the tour bus or battle field and tells us about the history of a place. Keep up the quality content!
Now, how much lighter would it be with a 16" barrel?
Looks good enough to me.
awww looks just like it's big brother. beautiful guns.
So could you guys also cover Brownells new AR 180 upper for AR-15 lower receivers or is that not of interest to you? I would love to hear your opinions on that particular option. thank you!
Hey Karl: can that hat legally leave the United States?
And man I'm still waiting for them to add A2s to the retro line, at least semi auto versions of the Colt LMG since those had unique A2 uppers either with only the brass deflector or entirely slickside.
They should have went the extra mile and added the sling swivel to the pistol grip to make it a bit more accurate to the original.
Did anyone else reflexively slap at their ear when the fly flew near the camera?
Would it be sacrilege to put one of those gooseneck rails on it and mount a red dot?
Took you 30 seconds to open the box and start shooting? Those are Rookie numbers… need to keep training to get it down to 15 seconds.
When are you gentlemen going to get ahold of a BRN-180 upper?
Cooooool. I likes it!
