also what you stated about buffer tubes is wrong so im assuming your not very knowledgeable about ar-15s anyways. rifle length tubes don't have notches in them they are as well perfectly round . only carbine tubes have adjustable notches. also they make commercial and milspec so not every stock is interchange able but mostly every company has a commercial and milspec stock for each tube. a tube is a tube. ask the damn atf man . im tired of this ridiculous question

So for everyone else, it is a rifle because the buffer tube is capable of putting on a shoulder stock. there are two types of buffer tubes, the perfectly round one is for pistols, the one with that notch allows a Magpul/mostly any other collapsable buttstock on it.

to answer your other dumb question pertaining to the length of the barrel the reason RIFLE barrels have pinned flash hiders to make the 16 inches is because that is the LAW for RIFLES. when you do a REGISTERED pistol build you can make ur fucking barrel any length you want you really are a fucking retard

you can just buy your upper no questions asked. you dont need any paper work its legal to own that length upper. even if you dont have a pistol lower you can use it as a paper weight if thats what you wanna do. just dont throw it onto a rifle lower

ok so im trying to start my AR-15 pistol build.. How did you go about the purchasing the Upper Reciever? Do you just say.. "i have a pistol lower that im going to put it on." ? and then your good to go without the class 3 paperwork?

do you wanna recheck the laws before you jump to assumptions? you can use ANY BUFFER tube you want . a buffer tube is not deemed a stock. and also just recently they change the law that your allowed to convert your pistol to a rifle then convert back if you register your virgin lower as a pistol first. but yeah i have no idea what im talking about .
