  1. I've always thought its important to look at your local landscape. I live in Louisiana, and while most of my friends and people around me prefer the AR, I think the AK is FAR superior for fighting in the swampy terrain and dense thicket of my surroundings. Sure if I lived on the plains of Texas I'd say the 5.56 offers an advantage. In my region however, you rarely get a clearing of more than a 1-200 yds and there is tons of cover and everything is wet and dirty. This enviroment is just much better suited for the .30 cal and the AK platform in my opinion.

  2. I really thought the title was click bait. The AK is superior to the AR? Huh? Let's say there is 10 rounds of 556/223 for every one 762×39 round in the States (its way higher than that) theres 10 AR mags for every AK mag in the States (it's way higher than that) the availability of parts, the military and police use AR platforms. The populace embraces the AR at a much higher rate than the AK. Reliability of the AK is so over rated its ridiculous. Yes it's a good platform but it is not indestructible or infallible. My M4 tan fine. My AR's run fine. Yes AK's jam. AK's were engineered for peasant soldiers who couldn't be counted on to do their due diligence. The ergonomics of the AR are so superior to the AK they're not even in the same sport let alone league. Yes I could go fight with an AK but prefer to fight with an AR. The AK round is not much more effective than 5.56 rounds. That's absolutely bullshit. Long and short of it? In the US of A the AR is far more capable of being supported, fed, repaired or replaced than the AK. Anyone who says different has a personal dog in the fight. That personal dog? "I like the AK better and want everyone to think the same". The level of ridonkulous here is staggering.

  3. Most 7.62×39 can't be reloaded due to the berdan primers. While the ruggedness of the AK47 is indisputable it does lack in many areas (weight being a big one).

  4. A prepper rifle is not the same as a combat rifle. If you believe it is, your preparedness plan is severely flawed and you will die in combat, instead of trying to procur food or simply defending your self. I’ve owned AKs and ARs. I’ve had parts on the AKs break before. I’ve had ARs with feeding issues. But because of the modularity of the AR-15 it does win as the prepper rifle. It’s easier to walk into gun stores and find parts for. It’s easier to walk into Wal-Mart and find ammo for. You can buy a CMMG 22lr conversion kit for it. Or you replace the whole upper and use 300BO. The flat tops are a more modern platform and easier more effective to mount scopes to than a AK. So yes the AR-15 is the better prepper rifle.

  5. The comments on that article are brutal. Honestly I have both and have used them a lot. They both work. Use what you want. I'd take an AK but that MY choice. If you like the AR then that's fine too. I would absolutely NOT feel undergunned or at a disadvantaged with one of my an ARs. They both do well. This AK vs AR argument is stupid.
