On Friday, March 29, the Mississippi Legislature adjourned sine die from its 2019 Legislative Session.
This year, Governor Phil Bryant (R) signed NRA-supported HB 1581 into law after it was passed unanimously in each chamber earlier this session.
House Bill 1581, sponsored by Representative Angela Cockerham (D-96), clarifies existing statute by listing various public areas in courthouses that are NOT to be considered “courtrooms,” and thereby, not subject to judicially-imposed restrictions on concealed carry for enhanced permit holders.
Thank you to those NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who contacted their legislators this session, and also to all of the legislators that stood strong on protecting Second Amendment rights in Mississippi. Your NRA-ILA will be back at the Capitol for the 2020 session, and in the meantime, please stay tuned to your email inbox and www.nraila.org for further updates.
