  1. I have a vortex strike fire II and have a little blur. When I use the vortex 3x magnifier with it the blur disappears. You can also tell if it’s your eyes or the red dot by turning the device. If the blur rotates it’s the device. If it stays it’s your eyes.

  2. I have mild astigmatism and what I found in my case is lowering the
brightness level. I'm using a Bushnell trs25 and can keep groups of 2"
at 50 yds consistently just by lowering the brightness to the lowest
level depending on conditions. I am using a Ruger 9mm carbine. Love this
gun btw. The other point is everyone's astigmatism is different. Find
    what works for you.

  3. I need one of those 510c's for my Mossberg. And I chose it because of you dude. I'm plagued with a astigmatism in my dominant eye as well and your review of it just sold me.

Other type of optics I'd suggest is etched reticles with illumination like Primary Arms. I barely notice a difference in the glare or bloom of the reticle with/without my glasses.

  4. I have the same series but with a green dot. The green also appears to eliminate my astigmatism to a great extent. I own 4 Holosun sights and lasers and absolutely am satisfied.

  5. I found out I have astigmatism when I bought a cheapo Barska red dot and looked through it. I almost took it back but first I googled something like "why does my red dot look like a spider web" and learned about astigmatism lol! Glad I didn't try to take that red dot back to the store, they would have thought I was retarded lol!

  6. My hs510c is pretty good with my astigmatism
The best optic I have is my vortex Sparc lol swear to god its a perfect circle
I've got an a couple Aimpoint that are ok
I picked up a RMR 2 MOA type 1 and it was a perfect circle, picked up the same optic right next to it and there was a slight flare of the dot. Go figure.

  7. Have you ever heard of the Girsan Regard MC? It’s a Beretta m9A1 clone from Turkey. I recently bought one, and so far I’m liking it. I only put 290 rounds through it, but it feels good to shoot, and is quite affordable for what seems to be a good gun based on my first impressions

  8. More expensive doesn't mean better for people with astigmatism (which I have), through a cheap no name chinese one I actually saw for the first time a perfect red round disc, unfortunately my friend could not remember when and where he bought it. The best thing to do is actually look through different models and see what works for your eyes

  9. Holosun and most other red dots/circle dots use straight led, whereas EOTech uses a laser hologram. Thats why it is “dot matrix” looking because the laser beam is bouncing back and forth off the mirrors which is what gives the “dot matrix” effect. With my astigmatism, which is really bad and my contacts prescriptions are near maxed our at -7 and -6.5, the EOTech gives me the best sight picture once you factor in that its supposed to be “dot matrix” looking. Also red dots are meant to be ran at the lowest brightness possible while still giving a clear reticle, which also reduces the star-bursting effect, depending on the lighting conditions, for the best precision possible. This is also why EOTech battery life differs so much from Aimpoint and Holosun and why most don’t understand why they cant just extend the battery life, because its laser and not led. Its the same thing as having a sighting laser, like on a pistol, running inside the sight and once you consider that the battery life is pretty good in comparison to something like a Crimson Trace sighting lasers battery life, which is only a few hours of constant on, vs EOTechs battery life, which is around 500 hours.

  10. I have an EOTech 552 that I love because it’s durable as hell. (One issued to me in Iraq and I beat the shit out of it for 15 months, but it held it’s zero and rocked on. My personal one survived a deployment to Afghanistan) with flying colors.) However, the “bloom” is horrible. I run it on a low setting and that helps a lot. The other red dot I have is a Crimson Trace CTS-1000 and it’s wonderfully crisp. It only “blooms” on the highest setting.
SHTF scenario? I’ll run the EOTech because I’m familiar with it and it’s tough as nails.
