Why did you doubt the 5.7 going through a 5 gal bucket of water?

I always thought that 5.7 was a "screamer" too. But then two days ago a friend asked me to research the bullet drop of "screamer" 5.7 versus the ancient 7.62×39 Soviet. Guess which one is flatter at 300 yards. The Patron obr. 1943 falls 26 inches, and the HK 5.7 falls 54 inches! Everything is upside down.

Supposedly if you use the round in a longer barrel (rifle version) it will gain a little more speed due to the pressure staying behind the bullet longer. If that is the case it may penetrate the mild steel. So I have been told.
