I do some shooting with the new Steamlight TLR-8G with green laser and 500 lumen output, do a beam comparison, and go over the features of the light as well as what I think of it overall!

  1. I wanted to love this, but I cant. I must admit that the TLR7 & 8 series fit Glocks perfectly and run flawlessly. The only problem is that some of "us" have short fingers, and cant successfully reach the activation switch. A longer switch button or paddle would have been a better idea in my opinion. Love the lights, just the Olight PL Mini reaches my trigger finger better. Great review as always, thanks brother!

  2. I want MORE light/laser combos for smaller pistols (like Shield, Sig 365, etc.), and I don't need the new MONSTER lumen outputs out there; 200, or even 100 on the light works. Mostly I prefer the Viridian on/off draw option. The first of these I got (for a custom Hidden Hybrid Holster) did not turn off upon holstering with 100% certainty. I put in a slightly stronger magnet myself in the holster and now function is 100%. I really like the option of on/off on draw. I'd like to see streamlight doing this, but there's probably a patent…

  3. Are the side plates/lips/interfacing pieces with the rail (whatever you’d like to call them) metal or polymer? I’ve had trouble with them breaking when dropped on the TLR3 due to polymer construction.

  4. I have to thank you for comparing it to the PL-Mini as that is one of my favorites for as you said how balanced it is, that plus it's size. It was good being able to see them one after the other. Would you say you would prefer one over the other?

  5. I like my weapon lights to be more tightly focused instead of spilling into the entire area. I tend to think of it as point (laser) vs area (light) targeting. Also, I don't want to light up like a nuke because your position is totally blown when you light up the entire area. I can see how either or may have a tactical advantage, but I think it comes down to PoU. I really like that this has a strobe function because I like the disorientation that the strobe affect causes as well as the concealment.

Yes, a strobing or doing an on/off on your light does create a concealment effect because the light is never a "constant on" moving target for bad guys. You flash in and out. Couple that with some zig zagging or FBI hold and your bad guy will never know which light to shoot at.

  6. Love your reviews, but. I know the But. If it's a laser be a laser, if it's a light be a light. Change my mind. Actually don't, because I dont care. Love ya stuff Mrgunsngear. Nothing against you.

  7. 🤔 I really didn’t know that— that green lasers were processed faster than red. And that it’s easier to see in bright light. I’ve never had or used a laser, so I had always imagined that green would “disappear” into the background quicker. Maybe next time I get a pistol light, I should shell out a little extra and try this laser. It’s under $200… we’ll see the laser vs. Arizona sunshine. Cool. Mr.Guns&Lights making me poorer day by day. 👍

  8. Good video. If you can find a good hard rifle case to review I would appreciate it. Bought a couple online only to be disappointed by quality and price. Polo shirts are for sissies. Lol. Jk. Thanks for another good review. Gonna get me one of these lights. Stay warm. Maybe good idea to review hand warmers and electric socks. Good video.

  9. Great review. I have the regular TLR – 8 and really like it. Only drawback is that activation switch. Really hope Streamlight intends to release a separate back plate with more traditional toggles. It is easy to adapt to with your support hand but it just feels like you have to disturb your natural firing grip to activate.
