SRT Red dot Eotech vs Holosun

Seniortac’s thoughts on two different brands of red dots! The Eotech EXPS2-0 OPMOD and the Holosun 510C-GR Elite.

I completely understand why the military uses the Eotech gear, because of the rugged build and the water resistants of it. Not to mention the military has nearly unlimited funds for equipment! And they are made in America!!!

But……we civilian people, with limited funds are always looking for high quality equipment for reasonable costs.

This is one situation as a prime example of just that thought process.
Great quality optic, great options, great price! Besides do I need a red dot that is capable of being in 30 feet of water? For $600.00 msrp?
That isn’t night vision capable?

The holosun 510C-GR Elite is $388.22…nearly $200.00 less!
It also has MANY feature the Eotech doesn’t…like…
Solar back-up, Auto Shake awake, Auto ambient light adjustment… 50,000 hours battery life!!!! Uses a $2.00 CR2032 battery available anywhere…and so much more!

I go on a bit of a rant…and I throw down a challenge to Eotech….”Come up with an optic, with the same feature, at the same price point!

And did i mention the reticle is GREEN!????

Big shout out to the “Dark Side” P.L.A.C.E. at Basha High school and to the entire Shenza family!

  1. You have astigmatism in your eyes which causes the Eotech to look fuzzy. Through a magnifier it clears up. I have the same problem. It is holograph vs red dot but basically the same sight picture and field of view. I have many Eotechs but have ordered 2 holosun 510s. I think it will be my new go to optic for close range. Shake awake instead of pushing buttons and minimum 20k hours run time vs 600 hrs. Slap it on a sig mpx and you have a always ready bump in the night gun.

  2. Nice review. EOTech won't lower their price because their primary market is MIL/LEO. So koudos to Holosun for seeing this gap in the market and creating the 510C-GR (green is proven better) with additional features. I want one now…lol!

  3. Minuteman941:. Thanks for your comment. I stand corrected. Using the term "holographic" was incorrect by literal definition, but I used it as a description similar to saying "red dot" optic. One of the down sides of the holosun 510c is the open area where "stuff" can get down into and block of the projection, as opposed to the Eotech. But…. Holosun now has the new 512c which eliminates that issue! Once I have that unit in hand I will be doing a evaluation video of it, and also correct my mistake of this video.

  4. The holosun is not a holographic optic. It is a LED hence the 50k hour battery life like alot of red dots on the market now. The EOTech uses a laser diode reflected off mirrors to form a 3d hologram reticle. I have a Holosun red dot and love it so far, but this is a Apple's to Oranges comparison.
