Great choice on the DD. They make GREAT stuff.
Those gas rings are ever so slightly beveled. It sounds like someone put them in incorrectly from the factory. Make sure your replacements are in correctly or you'll get a reoccurrence. I'd keep the Vortex. I have right at 5 different Vortex optics on 5 different guns. Good choice. Like you said, you're not going to Afghanistan. But you HAVE TO get on the interweb and order a Punisher dust cover door! Nice gun.

I love my DDM4-V11. I have a Holosun red dot mounted on mine and a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x mounted on my spikes tactical. I really love both guns, but I mounted the Strike Eagle on my Spikes Tactical since I really enjoy precision shooting. I like the glass on both the Holosun and Vortex sights and don't think you can beat the bang for the buck with either. I can also tell you that some military forces abroad are issuing Holosun optics to their troops.
