I was disappointed with assembly issues on the CMMG lower receiver and CMMG lower receiver kit. I had a number of issues assembling this lower that I’ve never encountered before with other manufacturer’s parts.

CMMG LR-308 (“AR-10”) Lower Receiver
CMMG Lower Kit
Fulton Armory FAR-308 Liberator 16″ Upper /w Tactical Rail
Magpul UBR Buttstock
Magpul MOE Handgrip
Magpul MOE Triggerguard
Eotech 512 A65.1 Holographic Sight

To still be added:
Backup Sights (likely Magpul MBUS)
2 point sling

  1. You built your lower with an AR15 parts kit. If you had ordered a parts kit for an AR10 or LR308 the mag release is held in place by a set screw, not a roll pin. A proper AR10/LR308 grip also aligns the detent spring for the safety properly and holds the take down detent without issue. There's nothing wrong with the CMMG lower that using the correct parts won't fix. You've probably mangled the threads for the mag release by pounding in a roll pin though.

  2. I talked to a Magpul rep and they said that their ubr stocks would not work with ar-10's because the proprietary buffer tube it comes with is too short, or something to that effect. How did you get your ubr to work on your at-10?

  3. Also a side note… I've noticed a HUGE difference between the 16" and 18" barrels. Even more of a difference that what's between a 20"and 24". Any reason you went 16" on yours? Just asking cuz I feel like its gotta hurt your MOA a bit.

  4. I have a cmmg mk3 (basically your lower plus the reast all cmmg) though I like your handguard I gotta say as much crap as the cmmg's get their 18" forged barrel is no joke! I sold my dpms sass because though its accuracy was incredible it was about 15lbs scoped and loaded. The mk3 weight about 8.5lbs loaded and scoped and shoots just about as well.

  5. Is it a tight fit? Think they are calling them A3 uppers. I was looking at the stripped. The forearm I want, Samson, does not fit dpms receivers. Nice 13 oz forearm. Trying to make this rifle light as possible.

  6. I read a few threads stating it is hard to find a compatible upper receiver for the mk3. I have mine finised. Just need to find an upper. Also read that you can not just take out rear pin, and 'split upper from lower, both pins have to come out to seperate. Only upper I can find now is a fulton. whats your upper?
