There are a few things that can make your AR-15 shoot incredibly smooth. A rifle length gas system, a good muzzle brake, and a low mass bolt carrier group from Sharps Rifle Company. Those b-pods also help to reduce muzzle rise with all that weight up front. I've got a bad back so my practice is to only shoot prone or off a bench with a bi-pod. That extra weight up front really puts a lot of stress on my lower back when shooting off hand.
