AR15 Review – The CMMG M4LE 5.56×45 NATO

A quick and easy overview of my CMMG M4LE 5.56×45 NATO.
I go over some basic designs of the CMMG M4LE.

I also forgot to mention it has a chrome lined barrel, and although M4 is a trademarked name and civilian AR’s cannot be called an “M4” per say, CMMG has designed this weapon with the moniker “M4-LE”, with the “LE” standing for Law Enforcement to designate a short semi-automatic carbine version of the AR-15.
It is chambered for both 5.56×45 NATO but fires both 5.56MM and .223, as listed on the receiver and the barrel.

From the CMMG website about 5.56MM vs .223:
“Do your 5.56 NATO chambers support firing .223 Rem also?
Any AR-15 chambered for 5.56 will shoot .223. Firearms chambered for .223 should not be fired with the higher pressure 5.56 NATO cartridge.”

From their website about the rifle itself:
LE Series Firearms are not available in a ban compliant configuration.

  1. What is the quality like? I'm turning 18 here soon and was looking at buying this gun but was unsure because myself and several other of my buddies (who know a little bit more about guns) was unfamiliar with this brand of gun.

  2. I switched out to an Eotech now, my rifle has come a long way. I think I'll try and do another video on it how it's been updated. But as far as the scope and the front sights of an AR, they are slightly visible in the camera but when you put your eye up to it there is somewhat of an optical illusion/optical counter-action that causes the front sight to almost completely dissappear. So no, it does not block targeting or anything like that

  3. From watching your video it seems like the front sight is a visible distraction while looking through your scope. Have you had any issues with that while shooting? I have a red dot with a flip to side magnifier on my AR-15 with a similar issue. But I haven't fired mine yet, with the magnifier installed. So, a flip up front sight may be I'm my near future.

  4. I agree. I usually refer to them as "weapons", or just "firearms", as well. But that's ok, the more you see a person use the word "gun" and the less you see them use words like "firearms" or "weapons", you start to learn a little bit about how much they actually know what they are talking about 🙂

  5. @G36Jeff Guns aren't supposed to be "pretty" lol, they are SUPPOSED TO BE UGLY – What are you trying to say, that you have a better rifle than my $1,000 American made 5.56 mil-spec rifle? Yeah, I'm sure. NOT… you are a pretty sad excuse for a guy with G36 in his name. That's ok, have fun playing with your airsoft guns and such.

  6. Nice AR. I picked up the same CMMG LE a couple years ago and love it. I like how we can shoot 5.56 without issue. I've put probably 600 rounds of 5.56 military tracers through mine. Probably 5,000 rounds total without any major issue. Couple jams here and there but thats usually just the ammo.

  7. @stainlessfour5 It has been good, but I just had a problem where the gas rings exploded and I had a live round stuck in the chamber. Luckily my friend is an armorer and was able to remove the live round jammed in the chamber, and CMMG sent me a new gas ring for free when I emailed them and told them what happened. I think it was a combination of extreme heat (rapid firing in the desert) + rifle not broken in + dry unlubed rifle + defective gas rings = boom! Gas rings go bye bye

  8. @OSSTsilversnakes Thanks for pointing that out, the gunstore misinformed me. After checking the CMMG website I found this cmmginc[dot] com / pdfs / WASPTechSheet [dot] pdf – it appears this WASP lining is actually superior than regular chrome lined barrels.
