The AR pistol is a Ghost Vital 10.5 Pistol Kit from Ghost Firearms w/ an Anderson Striped lower.
The first round is on you. You loaded then pulled the charging handle back half way and let it go forward easy. Stop babying the rifle.
Pulling the charge handle back and letting go to soft caused the issue. Hit the forward assist, that's what it is there for.
What mags were you running? I built an ar from a Davidson defense upper and it did not like magpul Gen 2 mags. Kept having failure to feeds every few rounds. I have "mft" p mags and they run just fine.
I'll be honest, the prices were so good on the Davidson Defense uppers that I wasn't sure about the quality (saw some iffy reviews from a few years ago). What's the verdict now a few weeks since you've had it?
I would like to see another update on the DD Upper, I ordered mine a few weeks ago and I'm currently waiting for it to arrive. I've heard horror stories and I'm hoping I can have a positive one.
